Carrie Underwood recently made the news for performing at President Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony on January 20. However, shortly after that, reports started surfacing that the singer up to felt she had not received the same kind of recognition for her performance as celebrities like Lady Gaga and Beyoncé.

On January 22, after the jasmine brand uploaded the news on their Instagram page, it went viral. Many netizens criticised her and made fun of her for reacting that way. One speculated that she didn’t shake Kamala’s hand as she was reportedly upset with her performace.
Others also reacted in a similar manner. One pointed out that she, too, allegedly showed disrespect towards Harris, while another one said that she is not as famous as Beyonce or Lady Gaga.
On the other hand, other netizens criticised Trump and his administration for not paying her proper respect. One said that she was expecting respect from the wrong people, while another user said that Trump’s administration allegedly doesn't “respect women.”
Carrie Underwood reportedly couldn’t perform well due to the last minute venue change
At Donald Trump's 2025 inauguration on Monday, Carrie Underwood was accused of "snubbing" now-former Vice President Kamala Harris. The 41-year-old Crazy Angels singer performed America the Beautiful at the U.S. Capitol after the event was rescheduled indoors due to the extremely cold weather.
Following a technically challenging performance, Underwood walked out after shaking hands with Trump, former President Joe Biden, and the newly appointed Vice President J.D. Vance.
However, she did not shake hands with Harris, even though she was standing next to Biden and directly behind her throughout her performance.
As per the same media outlet, the insider clarified that the singer had to make a last-minute alteration to her routine due to technical difficulties during her performance. This reportedly affected her performance as:
“Carrie was dissatisfied with her performance at the event, primarily due to the limited space she was given, which left her feeling cramped and uncomfortable," the insider told.
They further added:
“Her anxiety was high throughout the performance, and she felt that she was not afforded the same level of respect or admiration that previous performers, such as Beyoncé and Lady Gaga, had received. She felt as if she was ushered in and out and had a mini hissy fit afterwards.”
The insider went on to claim that she was accustomed to performing at large venues where she had the stage all to herself. However, she wasn't even given a podium or a stage at Trump's inauguration. As a result, Underwood had the impression that she was in a room with a microphone and others surrounding her. Her acoustics were reportedly disrupted by this.
Nevertheless, following the reports of her being dissatisfied with her performance and the viral videos, she hasn’t said anything about the entire thing as of yet.
