After serving over 900 days in custody, Young Thug was recently released on house arrest. This comes after the rapper attended a non-negotiated plea deal as he faced multiple charges, including Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act and leading street gang charges. Meanwhile, his X activity has come under scrutiny.

Prosecutors attempted to prove that Young Thug was the proclaimed leader of the Young Slime Life, also known as the Young Stoner Life gang, and that he was involved in the crimes committed by its members. Several co-defendants faced charges, including rapper Gunna.

On November 3, Young Thug tweeted:

“Real plea deal jack!”

The following day, he tweeted:

“Wham let’s drop one on these rats peter”

Rap Up reported that Young Thug was likely referring to dropping a song about “rats” with fellow singer Lil Baby. Many fell under the assumption that Thug was referring to Gunna, who took an Alford plea to get out of jail during his YSL RICO trial.

One netizen tweeted:

Several others took to the internet to express concern about Young Thug, whose real name is Jeffery Williams, causing trouble for himself. Comments online read:

“N**ga ain’t even been out 2 days and already making tweets like this you ain’t lasting long on that 15 years probation,” an X user said.
“You obviously missing jail,” another platform user said.
“Can you please stay out of trouble for the next 15 years? It hasn’t even been a week lol,” an internet user said.

Young Thug is now on 15 years of probation, with the judge also ordering him to remain away from the metropolitan area of Georgia for the first 10 years of his probation.

He has also been ordered to complete 100 hours of community service and is banned from contacting his co-defendants and associates of any criminal street gang. Meanwhile, other reactions read:

“This is probably not a good post while on probation,” an X user said.

“Can we give some respect for that lawyer of yours,” another platform user said.
“Man just lay low and enjoy freedom for real,” an internet user said.

Gunna had not responded to the tweet at the time of writing this article. Meanwhile, other reactions read:

“Gunna biting his nails like tom and jerry rn,” an X user said.
“This n**ga goin violate that probation in no time,” a platform user said.

Young Thug pleads to make music with Gunna in court

As Williams was ordered to have no contact with any co-defendants in the YSL RICO case, as part of the stipulations of his probation, his attorney Brian Steel requested Williams to be allowed to collaborate with Gunna and Quantavious Grier.

Steel described Gunna as a “phenomenal artist” and stated that the singing duo were “contractually obligated” to “frequently perform music together.”

The judge has since approved the same. Earlier this month, Gunna confirmed with Spotify that he remains signed to YSL Records. He said:

“I’m still signed to YSL. I’m still providing. We still pushing. No paperwork has been changed. So it’s like, whatever’s been getting and how we’ve been pushing this s**t, it’s still going.”

Gunna was released from jail in December 2022 after pleading guilty to racketeering charges. His Alford plea allowed him to maintain his innocence. Many opined that the rapper got out on suspicious circumstances, subsequently leading to his attorney Steve Sadow saying on Instagram:

“Gunna did not snitch to get out of jail. He has said nothing and is not cooperating. His plea statement cannot be used in court against any other defendant. So please stop spreading lies.”

Following Gunna’s release from jail, Lil Baby seemingly dissed him while on his Only Us Tour. When their hit song Drip Too Hard began playing at a venue’s speakers, Baby said:

“F*ck the rats, turn this s**t off.”

Now, it remains unclear whether Gunna and Young Thug will collaborate further.
