Young Thug has been trending on social media ever since he shared a post on X (formerly Twitter), referring to Gunna. The post led to speculations that things might not be fine between Thug and Gunna. Notably, the post, which was shared on November 9, 2024, reads:

"Gunna stop acting like we friends on the internet. I don't know u my guy."

The tweet was eventually deleted and Young Thug has not shared any response to the same. On the other hand, DJ Akademiks addressed the same from his side by sharing a lineup of posts through X on November 10, 2024, speaking up on the reasons that could have reportedly led to problems between Young Thug and Gunna. Akademiks wrote in one of them:

"I been told yall.. Thug told durk baby and a few other rappers that Gunna was no good while he was incarcerated... meaning.. it aint no way he can come back out and justify rockin wit gunna when he told n**gas not to rock wit gunna when he was locked."

Gunna and Thug were taken into custody alongside many other members of the record label, Young Stoner Life, also called YSL, in May 2022, on charges of violating the RICO Act. In December of the same year, Gunna pleaded guilty to a charge of conspiracy to violate the RICO Act by taking an Alford plea and was eventually released from custody, as per Pitchfork.

While Young Thug remained in prison, Gunna was ordered to do 500 hours of community service at the time. Ever since then, fans have claimed that Gunna reportedly cooperated with the authorities to avoid being sentenced.

Young Thug posted the tweet a few days after his release from prison: DJ Akademiks tweets explained

As mentioned, Thug was arrested in 2022 for violating the RICO Act and he was released on October 31, 2024. Thug pleaded guilty to the charges in a non-negotiated plea on November 1 and apologized to his family in a statement, saying that he takes responsibility for his crimes. According to CNN, he further stated:

"I find myself in a lot of stuff because I was just nice or cool. I understand that you can't be that way when you reach a certain height because it could end badly."

DJ Akademiks spoke on the plea deal in one of the tweets he recently shared, saying that Young Thug had to "carve out communicating" with Gunna and added:

"He has Gunna in contracts that aren't completed. If he was barred from having any communication with Gunna.. that would have gave Gunna a legal out in trying to get out the deal."

Akademiks even recalled the time when he said that Gunna might leave YSL Records or 300 Entertainment and join Atlantic Records. He added that Gunna never left either of them since they collaborated with Atlantic Records and 10K projects, leading to the formation of Atlantic Music Group.

Another tweet by Akademiks mentioned:

"Thug originally wanted to Drop on Gunna release date and was gonna have Baby and Durk as features. Those features didn't end up on his project but he literally sent the message to them saying 'I Don't F*ck w that f*ck n**ga.. and I wanna drop on his date' ... he also didn't drop on his date."

On the other hand, DJ Akademiks claimed during a live-streaming session on November 9, 2024, that Young Thug had once described Gunna as a "snitch" and also spoke to Lil Baby and Lil Durk about the same, as per The Express Tribune.
