American singer Blake Shelton opened up about his relationship with singer Gwen Stefani, in an exclusive interview with Entertainment Tonight where he spoke about his experience of being a stepdad to Stefani's three children. While talking to ET, the 47-year-old singer said,
"When people say it's not about you anymore when you have a kid... I think, if you're doing it right, it's not about you anymore. That's true."
Shelton has always been open and vocal about his wish to raise Stefani's kids as his own. The Grammy Award nominee further said in the interview that he is up for teaching the kids a different perspective on both life and music.
Popular country singer Blake Shelton reveals his mindset about raising his wife, Gwen Stefani's three children
In a recent interview with Entertainment Today, Blake Shelton gives a sneak peek at his personal life with his stepchildren. Shelton got married to Gwen Stefani in 2021 and thereby became the stepdad of her three children- Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo.
Shelton remembers his decade-long relationship with his now-wife and states that it has made him an important part of the children's lives and also made him a better human being. He also added how much he wanted a repeat of the ten years. The American singer said,
"Next month, we've got an 18-year-old, which it blows my mind that already happened. And in a couple of years, we'll have another 18-year-old. And that's... it's gonna be I guess a lot more alone time, which I'm not mad about that either."
Shelton then spoke about Apollo and said,
"But we still have Apollo, so we have another almost 10 years before we can kick him out, so it should be a lot of fun."
The country musician stated that he has learned to take a step back while being in the role of a stepdad. The God's Country singer further added,
"I didn't know what I was signing up for, but I was all about signing up for it. And every day I've fallen in love with the boys as much as I do with Gwen."
Shelton talk about teaching country music to his stepkids
In the interview with ET, Shelton also talks about what he wants to teach his stepchildren. He mentioned that kids have been growing up with a British rockstar father and a pop singer mum. He wants to show them the countryside of music and life. He says,
"Whether it's music, whether it's literally getting out, getting their hands in the dirt or being out on the ranch, seeing the animals, whatever, you know? I absolutely love being the person that gets to introduce them to that stuff."
Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton began dating back in 2015, while they were judges on The Voice. This was also shortly after the two divorced their then-spouses. Shelton had just separated from his now-former wife Miranda Lambert, and Stefani divorced Gavin Rossdale.
In November 2015, after signing the divorce papers, Stefani revealed her romantic equation with her current husband Blake Shelton. In a recent interview, Shelton said that in the first season of The Voice, he didn't have much conversation with Stefani, since Apollo was just born then. Blake Shelton added,
"You would see her out at the red chairs if there was a production meeting or whatever and I feel like I got to know Pharrell [Williams] more that year than I did Gwen."
Shelton, over the years, has had several hits like Austin, Boys 'Round Here, Turnin' Me On, Came Here to Forget, Mine Would Be You, and God's Country.
