Queens rapper 50 Cent (born Curtis James Jackson III) has recently opened up about the challenges he has been facing while working on a Netflix documentary featuring Sean 'Diddy' Combs' story. Back in September, Variety first reported that 50 Cent was working on the Netflix docuseries, which is being directed by Alexandria Stepleton.
On September 16, 2024, Diddy was arrested and charged with s*x trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in pr*stitution. After being denied bail thrice, Diddy is currently housed at Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center. He awaits his next trial date for s*x trafficking charges, which is scheduled for May 5, 2025.
On Friday, December 13, 50 Cent talked about his docuseries in an appearance on GMA3: What You Need to Know. Describing his longstanding 'beef' with Diddy as 'competitive energy,' 50 Cent said:
“It’s a difficult project because every day there’s new accusations coming out, it’s new things that happened. It’s become an octopus, with so many powers and so many things going on there.”
The Queens rapper was further asked if he had expected the assortment of s*xual allegations against Diddy.
“No, not this bad. Not this much stuff. I don’t think anyone could have anticipated this many accusations and things that have taken place,” replied 50 Cent.
In September, 50 Cent and director Alexandria Stepleton released a joint statement describing their upcoming Netflix docuseries.
“This is a story with significant human impact. It is a complex narrative spanning decades, not just the headlines or clips seen so far,” said the two in a joint statement. “We remain steadfast in our commitment to give a voice to the voiceless and to present authentic and nuanced perspectives.”
50 Cent shared picture of Diddy and Jennifer Lopez amid Diddy and Jay-Z's recent allegations
On December 11, 50 Cent took to Instagram to share a collage of photos of Diddy with his ex-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez (now deleted). The collage appeared to be a screenshot taken from a website (mol.im) and had the headline:
"Jennifer Lopez dragged into Jay-Z's alleged r*pe scandal."
The G-Unit boss captioned the post as:
"J-Lo, nah. I want nothing to do with this!”
Daily Mail exclusively shared unearthed photos of Diddy and Jennifer Lopez from the night of an alleged incident at NYC’s Lotus Club on September 7, 2000. The club, where Diddy hosted the MTV VMA afterparty, was reportedly the scene of a verbal confrontation.
On October 20, multiple lawsuits were filed against Diddy by Texas attorney Tony Buzbee at the New York federal court under the New York City Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Act.
One of the lawsuits claimed that Diddy drugged and s*xually assaulted a 13-year-old girl at an MTV afterparty in 2000 along with an unnamed celebrity. The incident allegedly unfolded while another anonymous female A-lister was watching. The alleged victim, now 37, chose to remain anonymous and came to be called Jane Doe.
In a recently filed civil lawsuit on December 8, Tony Buzbee claimed that the unidentified male celebrity was Roc Nation boss Jay-Z. However, the female A-lister hasn't been identified yet.
For the unversed, Diddy and Jennifer Lopez dated each other between 1999 and 2001.
Exploring the longstanding feud between 50 Cent and Diddy
The feud between 50 Cent and Diddy started all the way back in 2006 when the former released The Bomb. In the track, 50 Cent accused Diddy of knowing about the murder of The Notorious B.I.G. (aka Christopher Wallace). He was shot dead on March 9, 1997, in Los Angeles California.
"Who shot Biggie Smalls? / We don't get 'em / They gon' kill us all / Man Puffy know who hit that ni**a / Man that ni**a soft / He scared them boys from the Westside'll break him off / Dump on his a*s / So he run to Harlem shake 'em off," 50 rapped.
Since then, the two have often exchanged public jabs at one another. Diddy once called the G-Unit owner a "hating a** crab" after 50 Cent became the manager of Diddy's rival, Rick Ross.
The two have taken multiple digs at each other through diss tracks over the years. For instance, 50 Cent has referenced Diddy in Hip Hop (2007), I Run New York (2005), and My Gun Go Off (2008). The Bad Boy Records owner has hit back in tracks like Dirty Money's Angels (2009) and Ghost of Christopher Wallace (2010).
Fast forward to 2018, 50 Cent suggested that Diddy often made comments that allegedly made him 'uncomfortable' in an appearance of Drink Champs.
"When [Diddy] says things, he doesn't even know what he's saying is, like, fruity. He says to Fabolous, 'Me and you, we need to party. What is you talking about? When people say that to me I get a little uncomfortable," 50 claimed.
In response, Diddy claimed that the 49-year-old secretly loved him in an interview on The Breakfast Club.
"He loves me. Y'all can't see that he loves me? You really think that's hate? You know he loves me," commented Diddy.
The G-Unit owner made multiple comments on Diddy following his arrest on September 16. For instance, on September 25, he took to social media to remind people that he had warned others about 'puffy parties,' but no one believed the 49-year-old.
He claimed that everyone would start believing him after watching his docuseries. However, the release date of the series is currently unannounced.
