Young Thug has been in prison since 2022 and his girlfriend Mariah the Scientist recently addressed their relationship as she appeared in the latest episode of the podcast, Unapologetically Angel, on September 20, 2024. Apart from Mariah, the episode also featured Latto as a guest.
Mariah is also a singer and has released three albums until now. She stated in the podcast that she loves Young Thug and although they have not seen each other for a long time, she goes to court to visit him. She added:
"Sometimes I fall asleep in there. I just go to breathe his air."

"It's hard… If somebody told me that a few months into my relationship my man would get locked up? He's been locked up now for longer than we were in a relationship before he got locked up."
Furthermore, Mariah addressed her opinion on getting married in the future, saying that it is common for any girl to think she would choose an outfit and ring, and go for the ceremony. She also spoke up on the responsibilities that come after marriage and continued:
"I would love to be together forever, but with marriages, you assume there are liabilities, as well; like, if they have children or if they owe $100 million in taxes…you become one. So I just feel like it should be worth it."
Meanwhile, netizens took to the comments section of Hollywood Unlocked's Instagram post to share their reactions to Mariah's conversation. The post included clips of the interview and a user referred to her words by writing:
A majority of the responses featured users criticizing Mariah for supporting Young Thug. A person even advised people not to follow Mariah. A section of the public also expressed their sympathy for Mariah, saying that her words and body language proved that she was hurt by everything happening.
Mariah the Scientist had previously spoken up on her relationship with Young Thug
The pair's romance dates back to 2021 when Thug shared a few photos through Instagram posing alongside Mariah. The rumors continued and the duo were spotted going for a date on different occasions.
Although Young Thug was arrested in 2022, the relationship became official when Mariah posted glimpses of a romantic moment they shared. Notably, Thug was still in prison at the time. Mariah appeared on the podcast Way Up With Angela Yee last year, saying that Thug's jail sentence "solidified" their bond. She added:
"I think in the beginning I was so sensitive about it. I was so emotional, I was crying all the time. It was like you can't be crying when you got a man in jail because it's going to make him sad. So you can't be acting like that."
During a performance at the Outside Lands festival in August 2023, Mariah demanded the release of Young Thug by addressing the crowd with the following words:
"Now you know I got a man. He locked up. Free my baby daddy!"
On the other hand, Thug's trial has been facing several delays and he was charged with conspiracy to violate the RICO Act and involvement with a criminal street gang in 2022. Additional charges were imposed on him, including violation of the Controlled Substances Act alongside firearm and machine gun possession.
