⁠"It's about damn time" - Netizens react to Sean Diddy Combs' New York arrest following a grand jury indictment

Rapper and music producer, Sean Diddy Combs was arrested on Monday, September 16, 2024, after his hearing and a grand jury indictment. As per CNN, the arrest took place at the Park Hyatt Hotel in Manhattan, at around 8:15 pm local time.

While several women have come forward and spoken against Diddy, and how he allegedly assaulted them, the arrest comes after a new s*xual assault case was filed on the musician by his former bandmate, Dawn Richard.

For the unversed, Sean Combs has been in the headlines after allegations related to drug abuse, s*xual and physical assault, firearms, etc. It all started after his former girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, filed a case against Diddy last year, accusing the rapper of assaulting her physically and s*xually. In her lawsuit, she also mentioned that Combs used to allegedly force her into drugs and alcohol.

“We are disappointed with the decision”: Diddy’s lawyer issues statement following his arrest

Diddy’s arrest came months after Cassie accused him of several misdeeds, however, the two reached a settlement. After Cassie, several other women came forward and accused the rapper of similar crimes.

While the charges are not clear at the moment, Diddy’s lawyer confirmed the arrest by stating how they have been “disappointed” by the decision. Marc Agnifilo, Sean Combs' attorney said in a statement:

“We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is a music icon, self-made entrepreneur, loving family man, and proven philanthropist who has spent the last 30 years building an empire, adoring his children, and working to uplift the Black community.”

He continued:

“He is an imperfect person but he Is not a criminal. To his credit, Mr. Combs has been nothing but cooperative with this investigation and he voluntarily relocated to New York last week in anticipation of these charges. Please reserve your judgment until you have all the facts.

The lawyer concluded the statement by calling Sean Combs an "innocent man, with nothing to hide." He also said that he will now be "clearing his name in court."

Furthermore, the US attorney for the Southern District of New York, Damian Williams also released a statement talking about Sean Combs’ arrest, and informed the masses:

“Earlier this evening, federal agents arrested Sean Combs, based on a sealed indictment filed by the SDNY. We expect to move to unseal the indictment in the morning and will have more to say at that time.”

The arrest comes months after a video of Sean Combs beating his former girlfriend, Cassie went viral on social media. As per NBC New York, the video was released by CNN and was from a Los Angeles hotel.
