Lil Tay took to X on October 8 and called out "straight men" for their alleged misogyny after a user accused her of using her heart tumor as a promo for her new song. The rapper shared a video detailing her life journey and introduced her track, Growing Up.
In the video shared on October 7, Tay mentioned that she had been diagnosed with a "life-threatening heart tumor" and wrote the song while her health deteriorated. The singer added the song as the background music in her video as she shared various important incidents in her life that inspired her to come up with the song.
In response to her video, an X user, @YNTJoshy, claimed she used her medical condition to promote her music. The user's post said:
"Using a heart tumor as promo for your new song making it out as if u were about to die. Then u drop a music video and hella TikTok’s?💀🤦♂️ yea nice try, again."
Lil Tay responded to the user's post, writing:
"I’ve come to the realization that most straight men on this app cannot form a single thought for themselves. You saw what one man said and decided to repeat it, and you’re wrong. Misogyny has ruined the ability for men to have empathy and care about women. It’s disgusting asf."
In a follow-up post, she added:
"Using my trauma and suffering as a way to insult me is very weird, and I hope karma gets every single one of you bi**hes."
In her video, Lil Tay shared details about the difficulties she faced as a teenager, explaining that she misses having a fulfilling childhood. The teenage rapper also called out her estranged father in the video.
"My abusive father took me to court" - Lil Tay claimed her father stole millions from her
Speaking in her October 7 video shot like a TikTok reel, Lil Tay called out her father for allegedly stealing millions from her. She began:
"Hi, I am Lil Tay. I was diagnosed with a life-threatening heart tumor. My long story short - I became famous in 2018 for being the youngest flexer of the century. My abusive father took me to court and stole millions from me. After being gone for 5 years fighting him in court, he lost and then he faked my death."
The singer continued to share more details about her life, adding:
"Meta confirmed my account was hacked. I bounced back and dropped my song SUCKER 4 GREEN and slayed. I was the #1 searched female in the world. But at my peak, I disappeared again. I found out about my heart tumor. As my health deteriorated, I wrote this song. It's called Growing Up."
Tay explained through various old photos and videos in her clip that she's afraid of growing up and the uncertainty of the future. She stated that she has been grieving the end of her childhood and wished to have a fulfilling one in another universe. In the end, the singer revealed that the song playing in the background of the video was her new track, and she poured her "heart and soul" into it.
Last month, on September 14, Lil Tay's official Instagram account confirmed that her open heart surgery was a "great success." The post thanked Tay's surgeon, cardiologist, and medical team, which the post described as the "best in the world."
The post also included a video of 17-year-old Lil Tay sleeping on a hospital bed with multiple IVs on her. On September 29, the rapper posted a carousel of images from the hospital on Instagram, writing in the caption that she would continue to work hard for her dreams.
