On Wednesday, July 31, rapper Cardi B reportedly filed for divorce from her husband, Offset. Her representative confirmed the information to Page Six on August 1. The source further added that Cardi has requested primary custody of their children.
The source also stated:
“They’ve grown apart. That’s what drove her to this decision more than anything else. This is something she wants to do.”
The source went on to say that it wasn’t shocking that the relationship was over as:
“They both have been trying to figure out what their future looks like for a while now. It’s not something that happened overnight… They’ve both been on the same page. There wasn’t [pushback]. They’ve grown apart and that feeling has gotten stronger overtime. It’s become unavoidable.”
The report follows after Offset was accused of cheating by the female rapper. Further, Offset reportedly liked an Instagram post about the reports of the couple's divorce. As soon as the news of the rapper liking the post about his possible divorce went viral, people took to Instagram to react to the same.
"It's not the first time, he can't be that shocked," one Instagram user said.
Many fans commented under the post, expressing their support of Cardi B, stating that she deserved respect "no matter what."
Other users chimed in, with some expressing sadness at the alleged split. Meanwhile, other users commented that the split was inevitable as their relationship was "rushed."
Cardi B reportedly filed for divorce from Offset and is looking to get primary custody of her kids
Reports of Cardi B reportedly filing for divorce have started making rounds on the internet. TMZ reported that the two stars tried for a while to mend their relationship, but in the end, those attempts failed and the two are now looking to divorce.
Furthermore, Page Six reported on July 31 that Cardi B's top goal is "obtaining primary custody" of their two kids. There have also been rumors that Cardi is having a third kid, but she has neither acknowledged the rumors nor publicly announced her pregnancy.
Reports of the rapper filing for divorce made headlines after rumors of Offset's alleged cheating started circulating on the internet. These rumors have circulated since the couple's marriage began. Page Six also revealed that last week the Migos rapper had been photographed out in public with a woman he is reported to have dated in the past, PrettyRedz.
However, on July 30, The Neighbourhood Talks reported that Offset firmly denied the claims on Instagram and wrote,
“People really need to do the research… I’m at a public place gambling in a casino with a married 8-month-old. Pregnant women wtf I look like being outside publicly cheating SMD!!”
Additionally, PrettyRedz commented under the same post, writing,
“SMH that man wasn’t with me. I was already there with my husband, sister, and brother, and I’m 7 months pregnant… y’all really have to stop with this type of behavior.”
Earlier this week, there were rumors that the rapper had financial difficulties regarding the mansion she shares with Offset. Cardi B took to X to refute the allegations. She wrote on July 29 on X, in a now-deleted post,
“LMAOOO. You bum b*tches wish… Me and Offset bought that house in 2019 for 5 million now it’s worth 7. Check the Atlanta market. And no, we not selling it… and if I ever sold it I would just sell my part to Offset since he loves Atlanta. Throwing salt on my home? Hating bad.”
This isn’t the first time the reports of a divorce between Cardi B and Offset have made headlines. On September 15, 2020, over three years after they began dating, Cardi B filed for divorce from Offset, according to the Fulton County Magistrate in Georgia. However, after a few weeks, the two eventually reconciled.
Neither Cardi B nor Offset has publicly confirmed or denied the rumors about their divorce.
