Plies, whose real name is Algernod Lanier Washington, recently challenged the media question, “Is America there yet,” referring to whether the US is receptive to a Black woman being the President. This narrative emerged after President Joe Biden withdrew from the 2024 elections and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party nominee on July 21, 2024.

The Florida rapper, who consistently defended Harris on social media since the endorsement, posited that white men should have no trouble voting for a Black woman. In a video posted to X on July 23, he added that white men were the problem if they did not want to vote for Harris because she was Black.

“America there yet? It ain’t about if muthaf***in America there yet. It’s about if we muthaf***in there yet. That’s his muthaf***in business," Plies said in his video.
"All these muthaf***in years a woman was able to vote for a muthaf***in man, especially a woman of color was able to vote for a white man … now all of a sudden it’s a muthaf***in problem for a white man to vote for a sista? What kind of s*** is that? If that’s the case, the sista ain’t the muthaf***in problem; it’s muthaf***in him,” he added.

He added that he wanted to talk about this issue for two reasons, the first being God and the second being his mother, who raised him and his siblings while working three jobs to provide for them.

Plies continued that women were often not given positions of power because of the belief that they couldn't run things, saying he disagreed with the notion. He cited several influential women as examples, including Rihanna.

Plies claimed that Donald Trump was "scared s***less" after Biden endorsed Harris

Plies has been active on X since President Joe Biden endorsed Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party nominee on July 21. The rapper, who has been vocal about his dislike for Donald Trump, posted that the Republican candidate was "scared s***less" by the sudden turn of events.

"What I Told U He’s Scared S***less!! He’s A Unconfident, Pathological Liar. Who ONLY Experience Victories When He Manipulates The System (I.E SCOTUS & Judge Cannon). He Has To Lie & Sell U An Illusion In Hopes U Believe In Him!! He Only Wins When It’s Handle To Him! Comey 2016!" Plies tweeted.

This came as a response to Trump's post on Truth Social, where he said that the debate with the Democratic Presidential nominee should be broadcast on Fox News instead of ABC, which he dubbed a "biased" network.

Plies also requested Kamala Harris co-sign a day as Black Women's Day and make it a national holiday to appreciate the Black women who have strongly supported and upheld democracy in the US.

In his most recent tweet, he addressed Black Americans, claiming that they would be unstoppable if they stayed focused on the task at hand.

Plies gained mainstream attention when his single Shawty featuring T-Pain hit the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 in 2007. He released his debut studio album, The Real Testament, that same year and has since followed up with three more albums.
