Playboi Carti performed at the Lyrical Lemonade Summer Smash on June 15, 2024, at the SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview (Chicago), Illinois. During his performance, the singer made the live debut of ten new songs.

A mix of covers and original songs, the ten live debuted songs covered more than half of the singer's hour and nine-minute-long set. The debut of the songs was preceded by the singer's reply to questions posed by fellow rappers regarding his lack of music release on the Instagram account Opium_00pium. Later reposted on Carti's stories, the caption of the post read:

"TWIN SAID ITS TIME STREETS NEED 2 HEAR N SEE DIS SH*T DA RIGHT WAY"

Playboi Carti last released a solo album back in 2020

Playboi Carti's last studio album was four years ago back in 2020. The singer released his third studio album, Whole Lotta Red, on December 25, 2020, via AWGE and Interscope Records.

The album was a chart-topper on the Billboard 200 album chart. Alongside that success, the album also charted at number 2 on the Canadian album chart and number 7 on the Dutch album chart as well as at number 15 on the Australian album chart.

Critics consider the gold-certified album to be a direct follow-up to the Playboi Carti's first album, Die Lit, released in 2018. Whole Lotta Red was produced by Ken Carson and Maaly Raw, among others, and featured collaborations with artists Kid Cudi, Future, and Kanye West
