Jacksonville rapper Julio Foolio was allegedly shot to death, on June 23, 2024, at the age of 26. X user @SaycheeseDGTL reported on July 8 that the artist's Spotify account had gained about 600k monthly listeners since his death.

Several netizens reacted to the news and one individual made a reference to Lil Durk's song All My Life, featuring J. Cole. In the 2023 track, J. Cole said:

"I never even heard of lil' buddy/ 'Til somebody murdered lil' buddy/ Now I'm on the phone, searchin' lil' buddy name"

A netizen linked this verse to Foolio's new feat as they seemingly pointed out that not many people noticed the rapper when he was alive but he garnered 600k monthly listeners after his demise. X users also expressed that it was unfortunate that he did not "get the recognition he deserved until he was gone."

"It’s sad he didn’t get the recognition he deserved until he was gone," read one tweet.
"N**gas only show you love when you are dead," wrote another netizen.
"This just shows you that people care for you once you 6ft under the ground," added a netizen.
"They never love you when you’re alive," one individual wrote.

While most netizens believed that he deserved this recognition when he was alive, others disagreed.

"Fake love," an X user wrote.
"Nobody knows him," added another.
"His music ain’t even good," read one tweet.

An unidentified man claimed Yungeen Ace paid him to kill Foolio

Since the news about the rapper's death became public, several controversies have come to light, especially after fingers were pointed at Yungeen Ace for his reported feud with the late rapper.

Recently, a masked man appeared on a video, which later went viral, and claimed that Yungeen Ace paid him $10,000 to kill Foolio. The unidentified man said in the video:

"On everything I love, on the dead homies, I put it on everything on my soul, on my kid, n**ga: I'm the one that smacked Julio Foolio that night when he got dropped at his birthday celebration. I ain’t gonna show my face or give my identity away or nothing like that, but you know, I did that."

Law enforcement officials are yet to share details about any arrests made in the case.

The late rapper's funeral was held in Jacksonville on Monday, July 8, and was attended by his family and friends. The attendees reportedly rapped and danced to his diss track on rival rapper Yungeen Ace, When I See You, as per HotNewHipHop.

The beef between Yungeen and Julio had been ongoing since 2017. While the former was from the ATK crew, Julio Foolio belonged to Jacksonville's KTA. The rivalry became more intense when Foolio's cousin Zion Brown lost his life due to alleged gun violence. As per The Florida Times Union, the perpetrator was an associate of Yungeen Ace, who was then targeted in a retaliatory shooting.

Netizens are now eager to get updates on the investigation and learn more about the rapper's death.
