A day after an anonymous woman refiled a sexual assault lawsuit naming Jay-Z as a defendant, he filed a motion to dismiss the case. Denying the allegations, Jay-Z requested the accuser’s identity be disclosed, arguing she should not proceed anonymously. He also accused her lawyer, Tony Buzbee, of "extortion," describing the lawsuit as part of a "sprawling extortion saga driven by monetary motives."

The document filed by Jay-Z claimed that the rapper has been a victim of an “extortionate campaign,” as the motion to dismiss the lawsuit claims:

"When Defendant refused to pay and instead took measures to establish his innocence, this unnamed Plaintiff and her self-promoting counsel (whose name has been splashed across headlines and press conferences under auspices of representing her) went to extraordinary lengths to shut down fair defense. But those efforts, too, failed.”

It continued:

“Because that tactic is inconsistent with a genuine effort to determine the truth or falsity of these allegations—as opposed to an effort to procure a quick, extortionate settlement—Defendant is respectfully seeking either dismissal of the allegations or disclosure of the Plaintiff’s identity. Fair is fair. Defendant Shawn Carter (a/k/a "JAY-Z") has built an impeccable reputation. He has never been accused of, let alone engaged in, any sexual misconduct."

The original assault lawsuit was filed in October 2023, and did not mention Jay-Z’s name at the time: More details explored

The accuser, who requested to remain anonymous, refiled the lawsuit on December 8, 2024, however, it is worth noting that the initial lawsuit was filed in October 2023, and at the time, it had only Sean Combs, AKA Diddy’s name as the defendant. In the refiled lawsuit, “Jane Doe” narrated the entire incident, and stated that she was a minor when she was r*ped by Jay-Z and Diddy.

She claimed that the incident took place at the time of the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards afterparty. Wanting to attend the party filled with celebrities, Jane Doe approached Diddy’s driver who took her to an alleged white house. As she reached there, she saw people indulging in alcohol and drugs.

She was then offered a drink, after which she allegedly became unconscious. As per the anonymous accuser, that is when both the rappers allegedly took advantage of her. Furthermore, she also wrote in her lawsuit about finally managing to escape from the property. Jane Doe also added that she was allegedly made to sign a “non-disclosure” as a condition to attend the party.

However, Jay-Z has refuted all of the claims in the civil lawsuit, the rapper had also issued a statement previously to NBC, where he said:

“These allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one!! Whoever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree? These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case. My only heartbreak is for my family.”

Furthermore, while Diddy’s lawyers have also denied the accusations, at the moment, Tony Buzbee has not commented on the rapper's dismissal request.
