DJ Akademiks recently blasted Jay-Z for letting Kendrick Lamar headline the Super Bowl LIX. The event is scheduled to be played on February 9, 2025, at the Caesers Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.
In his posts on X made on September 8, 2024, DJ Akademiks ranted about Jay-Z letting Lamar, who has been indulging in a rap war with Drake, take such a position where he can deliver the final blow in their ongoing rivalry. He began his series of tweets by saying:
“The NFL just gave Kendrick Lamar a global 'Pop Out' show… Jay Z I see u n****h… u ain’t low.”
He then went out and again posted on X:
“Jay Z and roc nation responsible for curating the Super Bowl half time show… remember that. The Super Bowl in New Orleans and they let Kendrick Lamar perform over Lil Wayne…. Jay Z a legendary hater for that.”
DJ Akademiks then made another tweet and said:
“Round 2 Will Still Proceed.”
It is worth noting that Jay-Z and Drake have allegedly been feuding with each other as the two have often shared jabs and digs at each other. While the two started off their relationship by collaborating on Off That in 2009, and Light Up in 2010, the two allegedly started beefing in 2011, after many thought that Drizzy dissed Jay and Kanye West in DJ Khaled’s I’m on One.
“He the higher ups”- More details explored as DJ Akademiks rants about Kendrick Lamar performing at the Super Bowl in February 2025
DJ Akademiks made his way into the headlines, as he spoke up about Jay-Z announcing Kendrick Lamar’s name, and asking him to be the headliner for the Super Bowl Halftime, which is to be held in February 2025. Talking about how Jay-Z has “set up the play,” Akademiks tweeted and said:
“Jay Z set up the play. Drake … jay ain’t forget bout that charged up verse n**ga. He the higher ups.”
The fiasco took place after The National Football League, Roc Nation, and Apple Music made the announcement of Kendrick Lamar performing at the Super Bowl halftime on Sunday, September 8, 2024.
Announcing the same, Jay-Z, the founder of Roc Nation said:
“Kendrick Lamar is truly a once-in-a-generation artist and performer. His deep love for hip-hop and culture informs his artistic vision. He has an unparalleled ability to define and influence culture globally. Kendrick’s work transcends music, and his impact will be felt for years to come.”
On the other hand, Kendrick Lamar also released a statement to address the Super Bowl to be held in 2025, as he said:
“Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date. And I'll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one.”
While Kendrick Lamar has constantly been in the news for his back-to-back diss track releases, the rapper has not released any album after his 2022 studio album, Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers. However, he released many songs like Like That, Euphoria, Meet The Grahams, and other tracks, all dissing Drake.
On the other hand, Drake responded to the tracks by releasing The Heart Part 6, Family Matters, Push Ups, and Taylor Made Freestyle. While DJ Akademiks shared his views on the fiasco, neither Drake nor Kendrick Lamar have yet spoken about the same. Jay-Z has also maintained his silence after Akademiks alleged that he chose Lamar because of his beef with Drake.
