Jessie J gets candid about her mental health, sharing that she was recently diagnosed with ADHD and OCD, which has made her feel empowered and overwhelmed at the same time.

The artist shared the news on an Instagram post on Saturday, July 20, alongside two throwback footage of her teenage self singing on the stage. She wrote,

"Hello. I was diagnosed with ADHD and OCD about 3 months ago. In telling people a lot of the reaction I got was, Yeah I mean we knew that."

The singer further mentioned in the lengthy caption that she was aware of her condition to some extent, but being a mother has "exposed" her symptoms a lot more, which made her feel comforted in a way. Being more open about her diagnosis "made it feel less heavy and scary" for the singer.

Despite the struggles she has with her condition, Jessie J also noted that she somehow thinks it's her superpower, which has made an enormous impact in every aspect of her life. She continued saying,

"It's made me think about my whole life. The way I've been, the way I deal with things. The relationships I have had. How I work and how I love. It's empowered me and honestly sometimes has overwhelmed me all at the same time."

Sharing more about her journey with ADHD and OCD, the singer said that social media helped allow her to "connect and heal" with people who are going through the same things she's going through. She also said that it made her love herself even more, and if she could, she would hug her 11-year-old self.

Jessie J ended her post with some encouraging words about getting to know oneself more and "loving yourself all the way."

Jessie J shares struggles after welcoming son Sky

It's not the first time the singer shared about her struggles physically and mentally on social media. Jessie J, who gave birth to her son with partner Chanan Safir Colman, Sky, in May 2023, after she miscarried in 2021, previously shared that the road to feeling like herself again has been a slow one for her since giving birth.

She's been candid and open about her journey in and outside the music scene on social media. In an Instagram post she shared on June 4, she wrote alongside a series of snaps of her and her son,

"The road to feeling like your new self after a baby is a slow one (in my opinion) and I'm still on it for sure."

That said, the struggle may be there, but the singer noted her son helps bring back her sparkle. The Grammy-nominated artist also alluded to going through "something personal" in a June 29 Instagram post she shared just a few weeks later.
