Barrington DeVaughn Hendricks, a.k.a. JPEGMAFIA, escalated his feud with Freddie Gibbs to the next level. Last weekend, the rapper took to X to share a series of photos with his rival's ex-girlfriend, Destini Creams. He captioned the pictures, "Howdy Neighbor."

In one of the photos, the Destini is flashing, and in another, Peggy (JPEGMAFIA) has his hands around her waist while drinking from a glass bottle. A third picture shows him grinning. Destini later retweeted the photos.

Last year, Gibbs and Desitni went through a public breakup, with Destini claiming that he ghosted her after she revealed she was pregnant with his child. Meanwhile, JPEG and Gibbs have been involved in a beef since earlier this year, when they were promoting Ye's Vultures 1 that they collaborated on.

Friction between Freddie Gibbs and JPEGMAFIA began earlier this year

The friction between Freddie Gibbs and JPEGMAFIA began when the latter threw shade at Gibbs while calling out Kanye West. In January 2024, Peggy went on a rant on X, calling out Ye for overlooking him in favor of less deserving artists to be featured on West's then-upcoming album Vultures 1. He wrote:

"Kanye West i respect u but the way u acknowledge n*ggas who have less to offer u than me makes me feel a way. Im a scientist in the lab a surgeon bruh u and u skip over me for n*ggas thats getting they baby mommas f*cked on camera. I wanna make money f*ck these n*ggas."

As reported by HipHopDX, some of his tweets (since deleted) were directed at Freddie Gibbs, referencing his baby mamma and adult film star Destini Creams (who also goes by Destini Fox).

"And if u got a problem with me saying that about your baby momma do something about it im in la and i dont run from no one," JPEG wrote.

He later apologized for his comments, stating that Ye was his "idol," but added he doesn't care "about nothing kanye got going on at this point i just wanted to get paid."

When a fan questioned why he was dragging Gibbs, he called Freddie a "deadbeat dad," alleging that Gibbs had thrown shade at him years ago. He even called the Crime Pays hitmaker, calling him a "fake gangster." In his comment, Peggy explained that Freddie Gibbs had been subtly shading him since his 2021 album LP!

Eventually, both Gibbs and JPEG made an appearance on West and Ty Dolla $ign's collab, Vultures 1. As part of promoting the project, both rappers even flew to Italy for a listening party.

Freddie Gibbs, for his part, did not engage with the comments, despite some of the tweets getting personal. He simply posted, "I need my haters to work harder."

Peggy later took to X to apologize for all the "negative energy," stating:

"I would like to apologise; for the negative energy I’ve had this year. I was acting irresponsibly before, and thats not what I am about. When I get frustrated at one thing or person. Sometimes, I act out in a way that isn’t right. Even if i feel and know that i am in the right."

He added that he projected that energy onto his fans, asserting that he was only apologizing to them and no one else.

On August 1, 2024, JPEGMAFIA dropped his latest album, I Lay Down My Life For You, which is available to stream online.
