Hayley Williams has once again made her way into the headlines after a netizen bashed her and claimed that she was reading a script during her performance at the iHeartRadio Music Awards when she spoke out against Donald Trump and Project 2025.
The X user, @Nicksortor, shared the viral clip of Williams’ performance and speech and alleged that she was reading a script. The user also questioned whether she was being “paid or blackmailed.” The internet user alleged:
“Remember the video of Paramore’s Hayley Williams bashing Trump and spewing lies about “Project 2025” on stage? Yeah, turns out she was reading a SCRIPT. Who the hell gave it to her? Was she paid or blackmailed? NONE of this stuff is genuine! These “celebrities” are merely given anti-Trump talking points to spew to their fans. It’s all a big show.”
However, Hayley Williams was quick to respond to the user's claims. She shared a screenshot of his post on Instagram and wrote:
“Whoever you are, I typed out my speech and had a crew member hold it near the camera for me in case I got nervous because what I had to say was important, and I didn’t want to trip up in the moment. Did not end up looking at it though, that’s because I prepared.”
She continued:
“Finally, not only was I not paid to make the speech but we (paramore) did not get paid to play that radio fest either. Just out here kicking a*s for free I guess. Thanks so much for your concern and for spelling my name right, bye!”
“It is time for all Americans to band together and to finally defeat the Trump agenda”— Hayley Williams speech against Trump revisited as an X user bashed the singer
The whole fiasco started when Hayley Williams urged voters to think thoroughly before voting. She added that Americans should “band together and finally defeat the Trump agenda.”
During her speech, Williams said:
“Project 2025 is Donald Trump‘s playbook for controlling and punishing women, poor people, people of color, and the LGBTQ+ community. It is time for all Americans to band together and finally defeat the Trump agenda. And the only way to do that is by confronting him at the polls. Do you want to live in a dictatorship? Well show up and vote!”
The former President and his representatives have yet to respond to the Paramore frontwoman's speech.
The US presidential elections will be held on November 5, 2024. On this day, the citizens of the country will go out and vote for the next President of the country, as Donald Trump and Kamala Harris stand against each other. It is worth noting that initially, it was Joe Biden against the former President; however, he withdrew and endorsed Harris.
Williams is known for her albums Petals for Armor, Flowers for Vases, and her singles Simmer, Leave it Alone, Teardrop, Colour Me In, etc.
