DDG recently clapped back at the trolls who slammed him for gifting his 1-year-old son, Halo, a Ferrari for his birthday. The whole fiasco started on December 18, 2024, when DDG first posted on X asking the masses what he should get his son for his birthday. He added how he would get him a Lamborghini for his first birthday.
At the time, most netizens assumed that the rapper might be talking about a toy version of the car. However, social media users were shocked when the rapper showed Halo’s brand-new Ferrari on December 22. Many even criticized the rapper for buying such an extravagant gift for a 1-year-old.
Responding to the critics, the rapper took to X on December 24 and said:
DDG's YouTube video on Halo's first birthday showed him unveiling the car with his baby’s mother, Halle Bailey. The rapper was seen sitting in the front seat, and the baby was seen playing with the car's interiors. Many noticed DDG and Halle Bailey wearing matching outfits and the toddler being taken to his CoComelon-themed birthday party.
In a previous tweet, the rapper revealed that his son’s birthday party cost him $40,000. He even jokingly asked the masses not to skip ads while watching his content.
Halle Bailey and DDG’s recent controversy over bringing Halo in front of the public eye explored
Just before Halo turned one, DDG took him to one of Kai Cenat’s live streams. Halle Bailey did not like that he was introduced to the public without her approval and took to X to complain about it on November 6, 2024.
“I wasn’t told or notified and i am extremely upset to have my baby in front of millions of people. I am his mother and protector and saddened that i wasn’t notified especially when i am out of town.”
However, Halle started receiving a lot of backlash from the masses, who claimed she was overacting. This prompted another tweet from Bailey, who said:
“I know that Halo is always safe with his dad. i just don’t like finding out with the rest of the world what my baby is doing. thank u kai for the gifts for halo.”
As soon as DDG noticed the backlash against his former partner, he slammed the critics for commenting negatively on Halle Bailey’s post. He said he could have been more cautious about bringing Halo to the livestream.
“One thing I don’t like what people do, I don’t like when people hate on Halle. I don’t care if people think she is wrong or not, or if I think she is wrong or right. So when situations like this happen, I try to handle it with as much grace as possible because Halo needs her, I need her, we need each other to create a childhood that’s safe and fun and memorable for him,” the rapper said.
Halle Bailey and DDG welcomed their first child, Halo, in December 2023. While the former couple started dating in 2021, they announced their separation a few months after Halo was born.
However, when they announced their breakup, they assured that they would be “best friends" and raise their son together.
