Kanye West's former chief-of-staff Milo Yiannopoulos alleged the rapper's “dependence on nitrous gas” was worrying Yeezy staff in a new affidavit, published by The Daily Mail on August 7, 2024. In the affidavit, Yiannopoulos claimed Ye's nitrous gas use started after "celebrity dentist" Thomas P. Connelly introduced the substance to the rapper while fixing his $850K titanium grills in January 2024.
Yiannopoulos also claimed that Yeezy staff noticed four large surgical tanks of nitrous oxide inside Ye's wife Bianca Censori's apartment. In the affidavit, he alleged another Yeezy employee saw the rapper self-administering the nitrous gas provided by Connelly.
Yiannopoulos alleged Kanye West constantly talked about nitrous oxide in several meetings and seemed highly dependent on it. The substance also allegedly rendered his communication incomprehensible and contradictory.
Milo Yiannopoulos claimed there was a pattern between Kanye West's nitrous use and his bipolar disorder
This is not the first time Milo Yiannopoulos has brought up Kanye West's alleged use of nitrous oxide. In a series of tweets in July 2024, the former chief-of-staff claimed the rapper was “hooked on nitrous thanks to the Doctor Death of Dentistry.”
In the recent affidavit, he compared the side effects of prolonged nitrous oxide use to the symptoms of the rapper's bipolar diagnosis, which included “erratic behavior, mood swings, paranoia, and violence.”
Yiannopoulos also accused Thomas P. Connelly of preying on West while he was vulnerable. Yiannopoulos registered a complaint against the dentist with the California Dental Board for his "reckless, unethical, dishonest, explorative and, upon information and belief, illegal conduct."
While Yiannopoulos did not explicitly mention Ye by name in the affidavit, he claimed the dentist,
"Knowingly encouraged their use in the absence of a qualified anesthesia or medical professional by a person with history of mental illness and addiction."
He also alleged that Connelly moved into the patient's apartment building to monitor him. Yiannopoulos added the dentist was allegedly complicit in taking sizeable sums of money from West, who was supposedly in a "confused, dependent, weakened and addicted state."
In the affidavit, Yiannopoulos called for federal law enforcement to look into the issue and suspend Connelly's license if he was found guilty.
Kanye West about using nitrous oxide
In an interview with Paper Magazine in April 2015, Kanye West detailed a life-changing encounter using nitrous oxide for the first time while undergoing a dental procedure.
“One time I was at the dentist’s office and I was given nitrous gas and I was vibing out. I guess that’s my version of Steve Jobs and his LSD trip — when I had this first thought: What is the meaning of life?"
"And then I thought, To give. What’s the key to happiness? Happiness. What do you want in life? When you give someone something, should they give you something in return? No."
He added he wanted to explain the experience in Christian terms as a Christian, saying "God will give you tenfold" if people help others. West also said he came away from the experience with a completely new attitude and perspective on life.
Milo Yiannopoulos, who worked for Kanye West between 2022 and 2024, quit in May.
