Kate Cassidy, the girlfriend of the late singer Liam Payne, unveiled a new tattoo of angel wings on Sunday, December 22, 2024. The ink appears to honor Payne, who tragically passed away on October 16, 2024. The former One Direction member died at age 31 after falling from a third-floor balcony of a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Kate Cassidy, 25, revealed the angel wings tattoo on her index and middle fingers via Instagram stories. In the photo, Kate Cassidy was seen cuddling Nala, the dog she and Payne adopted together just a month before his passing. The image, marked with a simple red heart emoji, offered no additional caption.

Kate Cassidy and Liam Payne had been in a relationship for two years before his untimely death. She expressed her grief on Instagram on October 18, 2024, two days after Liam Payne's death.
She wrote, "I have been at a complete loss. Nothing about the past few days have felt real. I ask and pray that you'll give me the grace and space to navigate this in private."
She concluded her post with, "Liam, my angel. You are everything. I want you to know I loved you unconditionally and completely. I will continue to love you for the rest of my life. I love you, Liam."
On November 20, Kate Cassidy joined Payne's friends and family at his funeral in the English countryside. The service was attended by the other former One Direction members Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, and Niall Horan, as well as Damian Hurley and Cheryl Cole, Payne's ex and the mother of his seven-year-old son, Bear.
It marked a somber reunion for Payne's former bandmates, who came together to bid him farewell.
Kate Cassidy has used social media to share memories of Payne. On December 8, she posted a TikTok tribute featuring a compilation of clips of their time together, set to Mazzy Star's Fade Into You.
"I love you," Cassidy wrote in the caption.
In a TikTok posted by Cassidy on September 16, she described her initial nervousness about asking Payne to adopt a shelter dog. The video included clips of Payne meeting Nala, with Cassidy noting, "Liam was totally on board." The couple had hoped to give the four-month-old dog "a second chance at a better life."
Payne's fatal fall resulted in a fractured skull and multiple injuries, including internal and external bleeding, as confirmed by the National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor's Office. A toxicology report later revealed the presence of multiple drugs in his system at the time of his death.
Cassidy, who had joined Payne for a two-week vacation in Argentina shortly before his death, shared that she returned home alone before the incident.
Zayn Malik paid tribute to his late bandmate, Liam Payne, during his "Stairway to the Sky" tour. At his concert on November 23, 2024, in Leeds, England, Malik concluded the performance with a heartfelt message displayed on the screen: "Liam Payne, 1993-2024. Love you bro" accompanied by a red heart.
