Popular hip-hop influencer DJ Akademiks recently shared his Spotify Wrapped data, revealing Drake as his most streamed artist of 2024. Taking to X on December 4, Akademiks shared screen recordings of the music streaming platform's much-publicized Spotify Wrapped details.
For those uninformed, Spotify provides its users with an overview of their most streamed artists, songs, and genres at the end of the year. Akademiks shared his most streamed and top 5 artists, writing:
"No Bots Allowed. 2024 Spotify wrapped."
DJ Akademiks' top 5 artists included Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Youngboy NBA, Lil Durk and Future. He had the longest streak of listening to Drizzy's music for 15 days and spent 4102 minutes listening to his music. He was among 0.5% of the Toronto rapper's listeners worldwide.
Fans took to X to react to DJ Akademiks' Spotify Wrapped, with many raising eyebrows about Kendrick Lamar featuring as his second-most streamed artist in 2024. The influencer is often considered a loyalist of Drake, who's been involved in a highly-publicized feud with Lamar.
"Kendrick on no 2… you love him too," an X user wrote.
"Number 2 though 🤣🤣🤣 please stop trying to impress bro. He doesn’t care," another fan joked.
"I want to see what’s on Drizzy’s Spotify wrapped," a netizen added.
"Is that Kendrick at number 2," another fan jibed.
Fans continued to mock Akademiks for having Lamar among his most-streamed artists:
"He’s a FAN he’s a FAN," an X user chimed in.
"Only 15 days in a row lol," a netizen commented.
"i can count on my hands how many people have Kendrick in their top 5 while all i see are the masses posting Drizzy," a person opined.
When DJ Akademiks claimed Drake has a 'sneak diss' track ready for Kendrick Lamar
Drake and Kendrick Lamar were involved in a much-publicized feud between March and May 2024, with multiple major hip-hop personalities sharing their take on the beef. DJ Akademiks, who is believed to be a loyal supporter of Drizzy, also regularly shared his thoughts on the beef via his live streaming.
Around two months after Lamar and Drizzy's beef slowed down, DJ Akademiks, in a July 2024 stream on Rumble, claimed that Drake had a "sneak diss" track ready for Kendrick Lamar. The influencer said (via Billboard):
“It’s sneak dissin’ time. It’s really never over. I can’t wait to hear the first sneak diss. Matter of fact, I won’t even tell y’all what I heard but the first sneak diss Drake got that’s dissin’ Kendrick, how he positions it, that’s going to be interesting.”
A few weeks before his aforementioned statement, DJ Akademiks also took to X, claiming Drizzy was not "finished."
“All u ni**as who been acting like Drake finished… bookmark this tweet for 6 months from now. We dont want u ni**as no where near us……Remember that.”
In a follow-up tweet, DJ Akademiks added:
“And yes.. enjoy all the other noise and bs.. Drake new music otw. and its fye…. trust.”
The Drake-Kendrick Lamar feud began in March 2024, when K Dot took supposed digs at Drake and J Cole in Future and Metro Boomin's track, Like That. The West Coast rapper had an uncredited verse in the popular track, where he rapped:
"Think I won't drop the location? I still got PTSD/ Motherf**k the big three, ni**a, it's just big me."
Lamar's lyrics were reportedly in response to one of J Cole's earlier comments, where he claimed that Drake, Lamar, and he were the "big three" of the hip-hop world today. Following Lamar's diss, Drizzy responded to his track. Both rappers released multiple diss tracks aimed at each other.
In May 2024, Drake released The Heart Part 6 as his final diss track aimed at Lamar, but K Dot did not formally respond to his track. The feud has supposedly ended for now, although the two rappers have continued to take digs at each other.
A month after the feud ended, Kendrick Lamar performed multiple of his diss tracks aimed at Drake in his Pop Out Show in June 2024. He played one of his most popular diss tracks, Not Like Us, six times in the concert.
Meanwhile, Drake has recently filed a lawsuit against Universal Music Group (UMG) and Spotify, accusing it of using unfair means to boost streams of Kendrick Lamar's diss track, Not Like Us. The lawsuit is the most recent development in the two rappers' beef.
