American Singer-Songwriter Kesha has made it clear that the music industry should be "terrified" of her upcoming plans. After enduring a decade-long legal battle with her former producer Lukasz "Dr. Luke" Gottwald, the singer is stepping into a new chapter of her career, one where she is fully in control of her music and her future.
In an interview with Elle on 3rd October, the pop star discussed her ambitions to 'reshape' the industry and ensure that no artist faces the 'same struggles' she did.
Kesha shared her thoughts on her new album, which she described as embodying "joy." She added, "My soul is very fun. My name means 'innocent joy.'"
"The music industry should be fing terrified of me. I’m about to make some major moves and shift this s… I hope my legacy is making sure it never happens to anybody ever again."
However, this album goes beyond fun—it’s 'deeply personal'. She emphasized that she has fought hard for this moment, hinting at the toll her legal battles took on her. As she looks forward, she is determined to regain the joy in her life and in her music.

Launching her own record label, Kesha Records, the popstar now has the freedom to make the kind of music she wants and, more importantly, to set 'new standards' for the industry.
"I’m about to make some major moves and shift this s**. I really want to dismantle it piece by piece and shine light into every corner," she stated.
Her vision includes dismantling exploitative practices, particularly those that control artists through unfair contracts, such as "ownership in perpetuity" clauses, which keep musicians tied to labels indefinitely. She is strongly opposed to these practices, which she says strip artists of their autonomy and creativity.
After parting ways with RCA Records in June 2023, Kesha released her first single as an independent artist, Joyride, marking a new era in her career. This came shortly after her legal battle with Dr. Luke concluded.
Though neither Kesha nor Dr. Luke admitted fault, both parties issued statements on Instagram in June 2023, with her stating, "Only God knows what happened that night." Dr. Luke has consistently denied the allegations of drugging and sexual assault that the popstar brought against him.
But the singer’s mission goes beyond her personal journey. She’s collaborating with the tech industry to create a digital platform that prioritizes artists' safety and transparency. In her Elle interview, she expressed her disdain for the "old way of doing everything with secrecy" and issued a stark warning to those with "deep, dark secrets"—their time is up.
As of now, Kesha is focused on releasing her new album, which is set to drop in early 2025. She continues to work on expanding her record label, with plans to sign emerging artists who align with her vision of transparency and fairness in the industry.
In addition, she has ongoing collaborations in the tech space to develop artist-friendly platforms aimed at ensuring creative freedom and safety. With her label, upcoming album, and tech initiatives, Kesha is firmly set on creating a lasting impact in the music industry.
