On July 16, rapper Big Sean, whose real name is Sean Michael Leonard Anderson, dropped a freestyle rap titled On the Radar. The track is now trending on social media platforms for seemingly taking shots at rapper and songwriter Kendrick Lamar.

While Big Sean did not mention K-Dot by name, he made multiple references to someone who feuds to attract attention to themselves, making people believe he was dissing the Not Like Us rapper.

“N*ggas looking for engagement like they got their knee bent/ I got better things to do than find someone to beef with…” Anderson raps.

Later, Big Sean also went on to rap:

"Difference is I’m an activist and you drink Actavis/ And I’m back acclimated/ And I’ma need my cut off top it’s decapitated."

In the wake of Big Sean seemingly dissing Kendrick Lamar, fans of the latter are calling him out. Here are some of the reactions from X.

“Careful Sean, let’s not damage the career by beefing with you know who,” a person wrote.
“Sean, the sneak dissing thing is over. Say n*ggas name if you like that,” another person wrote.
“Nah… that’s not it. Doesn’t stick one bit. And I should add, there’re way better ways to stay relevant,” a user wrote.
“Lmaoo he better stay inside. He don't want no smoke with Kendrick,” another user wrote.
“Kendrick would absolutely wipe the floor with Big Sean, are you kidding? I’d take drake over Big Sean any day,” a netizen wrote.
“Anyone else feel like saying I don't need someone to beef with while sending shots trying to beef is hypocritical? Still here for it lol,” another netizen wrote.
“So, is him dissing Kendrick not looking for engagement? Haha,” an individual wrote.
“He sneak dissing like Drake. Not a good look,” another individual wrote.

Notably, DJ Hed, a close associate of Sean, claimed that the latter threw shots at a Gemini rapper on his latest On the Radar freestyle and not Kendrick Lamar, contrary to viral speculations.

Everything you need to know about Big Sean’s latest freestyle rap

Big Sean’s On the Radar was created as part of the freestyle series hosted by the New York-based radio station On the Radar Radio. It is written and rapped by Big Sean over the beat of late singer-actress Aaliyah’s If Your Girl Only Knew.

In fact, the 36-year-old Detroit native posted on X that he rapped to “one of my favorite Aaliyah songs cause I love Aaliyah.”

In another post, he shared a picture of a hat with "Dilla" written on it and mentioned that the freestyle was his way to “pay tribute to one of my favorite singers ever,” aka the late rapper and record producer J Dilla.

Apart from the couple of homages, On the Radar also takes direct shots at Metro Boomin’ and Dr. Umar Johnson.

Meanwhile, in the wake of the track’s release, Sean took to X and made a series of posts.

In one post, he slammed people who turned their back on him, but sent his appreciation for the ones who “stayed.” In another, he wrote, “N f*ck these b*tch ass n*ggaz, every one of them.” Upon receiving some backlash, he further tweeted:

“Yall goin wit so many narratives, im talking to da haters who just keep finding something to point out they dont like bout me. Its not even worth explaining tho im a just focus on the music."

Big Sean previously denied feuding with Kendrick Lamar

In 2013, Kendrick Lamar collaborated with Big Sean on the latter’s single, Control, where he openly dissed the former in his own song. Since then, rumors had it that the two rappers have been feuding.

However, in 2020, Anderson addressed the speculation during an episode of Joe Budden's podcast, Pull Up, and cleared the air that he was not beefing with K-Dot.

In 2023, Sean also told TMZ that there “ain’t no diss,” adding that he wanted to avoid it as one diss often led to another and so on.

In March this year, the Finally Famous hitmaker addressed the contest between Drake, K-Dot, and J. Cole ahead of the famous rap battle that was initiated between the first two.

Back then, the multiple-time Grammy winner dropped a freestyle and claimed that he lacked “consistency” as an artist and did not have the “energy to compete with enemies” or the “so-called bigger three.”

Kendrick Lamar has never publicly addressed the matter.
