Investigating officers had been looking into One Direction star Liam Payne's tragic death, since he fell from a Buenos Aires hotel balcony, on October 16. The Daily Mail reported that authorities were also investigating the hotel staff for supplying Payne with hard drugs.
Two men have further been accused of smuggling the drugs into Liam Payne's suit at the hotel, before his death. The two men included a cleaner and another staff. According to cops, they hid the drugs in a Dove Soap box which was later discovered in Payne's room.
Police have sent the chemicals for further testing, however, they believe it to be cocaine and crack cocaine. The CasaSur hotel management seemingly dismissed one of the men, after they got to know about the alleged behavior. A friend of the late singer said:
"There were two guys at the hotel that were giving Liam drugs. They sent taxis out to collect packages for him."
The friend further shed light on how the hotel authorities allegedly got suspicious and said:
"One of the guys was working in the cleaning department. After Liam died, they noticed that one taxi was sent to the cleaner's home address. The hotel manager asked him why the taxi had gone to his home and when he couldn't give an explanation he was fired."
The friend then claimed that Liam Payne was trying to stay sober. However, shortly after checking into the hotel, these unnamed men started offering him drugs and alcohol. The pal added that visa tests were conducted on Tuesday and Liam was tested clean.
Representatives of the hotel have, however, declined to issue a statement on the matter as of now.
Liam Payne was reportedly under strong scrutiny and was tested for drugs, by the US Embassy prior to his demise
As mentioned before, according to a friend of Liam Payne, the singer was trying to stay clean and sober prior to his death. Payne landed in Argentina on September 30, 2024, in order to get his American visa renewed.
According to the friend who spoke to The Sun, when Liam spoke to the US Embassy about the same, they highlighted his previous visits to the rehab. The singer reportedly had to go through a drug test to prove his sobriety. The friend added:
"The embassy said Liam needed to do a strict investigation including X-rays and a blood test to search for traces of drugs."
A US Embassy certified medical professional examined Liam, who then collected his test results on Tuesday, October 15, a day before the tragic incident. The friend further referred to those who allegedly supplied Liam with drugs, and said:
"Liam had tried really hard to get clean, then he’s been preyed upon. These people just care about money - they don’t care about putting people’s lives in danger."
The Sun further reported that according to a source, shortly after his check-in in the hotel last Sunday at around 11 pm, somebody supplied him with drugs.
The source, however, claimed that they had no clue about what drug Liam Payne could've purchased or how much he paid for that. Meanwhile, law enforcement officials appeared to believe that the late singer had an episode after being drunk and high.
