The investigation into Liam Payne's fatal fall in Buenos Aires, Argentina, continues, with two more CasaSur Palermo hotel employees being charged, including the receptionist who called the paramedics. A new filing has emerged, per Rolling Stone on Tuesday, December 10, with the judge in the case charging the two hotel employees.
The documents were reportedly filed on Monday, naming the receptionist manager, Esteban Reynald Grassi, and the hotel's operations manager, Gilda Agustina Martin, as persons of interest.
Grassi was reportedly the receptionist who called 911 for help leading up to Payne falling from the third-floor balcony of the hotel to his death on October 16.
The filing obtained by Rolling Stone partly reads:
"Since there is sufficient reason to suspect that they have participated in the investigated act, we ask that the following people give a statement."
As the presiding judge in the case of Liam Payne's death investigation weighs in on their involvement with the singer's passing, Grassi and Martin will have to face the court. They are expected to appear in front of the judge on December 19.
Per the Buenos Aires legal system, after giving their statements and after questioning, it will be up to the judge to determine if the accused will be prosecuted, dropped from the case altogether, or if there is not enough evidence to arrive at either decision.
That said, Rolling Stone mentioned that the latest filing wasn't clear about what the two new parties are being charged with.
Five charges have been made in relation to Liam Payne's death
The two CasaSur Palermo hotel employees being charged and summoned to the court in relation to Liam Payne's death are only two of the latest charges made in his case.
There are three others previously charged in connection with Payne's passing who are due to appear in court next week.
NBC reported on November 7 that three people have been charged. Argentina's public prosecutor reportedly said during a hearing that day:
"Illicit conduct was discovered from which three people were charged with the crimes of abandonment of a person followed by death, supply, and facilitation or narcotics."
One of the accused was a hotel employee who allegedly supplied the former One Direction singer with c*caine twice while he was staying at the CasaSur hotel. Another one was charged for supplying him with drugs twice during his October 14 stay at the hotel.
According to Page Six, the first two accused, Brian Nahuel Paiz and Uriel Astengo, will show up in court on December 17. They were charged with two acts of supplying narcotics.
Toxicology reports showed that Payne died with alcohol, c*caine, prescription antidepressants, and "pink c*caine" in his system.
Rogelio "Roger" Nores, who was Liam Payne's friend, is another of the accused. He was charged with abandonment of a person followed by death for allegedly not keeping the musician's family informed about his relapse.
That said, Nores has denied abandoning the late singer during an interview with the Daily Mail on November 7. He said that there were more than 15 people who were chatting and joking with Payne in the hotel lobby when he left. Nores is due to appear in court on December 18.
The latest update in Liam Payne's death investigation comes around three weeks after he was laid to rest in a private service, which his former One Direction bandmates and his girlfriend Kate Cassidy attended.
