Paula Varela - an Argentinian journalist - has allegedly revealed new information about Liam Payne's death on air. The broadcast journalist, who hosts Socios del Espectaculo on Canal 13 - a Buenos Aires-based TV station, recently claimed on her show that Payne's death was captured on the hotel's CCTV cameras.

Varela also claimed that in the footage that's being kept hidden at the moment, it was visible that the One Direction star fainted on the balcony before his fall. Here's the rest of her statement:

"There is footage that is not being released to the media with the balcony scene where you see that Liam faints and tragically because of where he is, falls from that balcony. If he had been beside his bed he would have fallen on his bed."

Even if the footage that led Paula Varela to make these claims existed, it is not publicly available yet.

Paula Varela also claims that a hotel staff who got close to Liam Payne is currently under investigation

The claims made by Paula Varela on air suggest that Liam Payne didn't "deliberately" jump from the balcony of his hotel room in Buenos Aires. As per Mirror UK, it's in sync with the prosecutors' statement delivered at the time of death, which said that they believed he was "in a state of semi or total unconsciousness" during a substance-induced "psychotic episode" when he fell.

Another claim by Varela alleges that one of the hotel staff is currently being investigated by the authorities, who, according to the journalist, had "struck up an excellent relationship with Liam."

The journalist further alleged that the staff disobeyed a direct order from the hotel management, which was not to take anything into Liam Payne's room. He requested a car for the Both Ways singer - using a taxi app - and is now allegedly under investigation to figure out what was "transferred in that vehicle."

Per Varela's claim, the staff has also been suspended from the hotel. Payne was staying at the Casa Sur Hotel in the Palermo neighborhood in the last 2-3 days before his passing.

According to BBC, while Liam Payne documented much of his vacation on Snapchat - including food, his plans to play polo, and jokes about his hair - the Casa Sur Hotel wasn't featured in any of them.

The Strip That Down singer had arrived in the South American country towards the end of September 2024 on a vacation with his girlfriend, Kate Cassidy. Cassidy returned to Florida two days before the tragic fall that claimed Payne's life.

Liam also attended a concert of his former One Direction bandmate, Niall Horan, on October 2, where he was captured dancing and cheering by fans.

The hotel staff called emergency services out of concern for Payne minutes before his fall

BBC also reports that on the evening of Liam Payne's death, two separate calls were made to emergency services from the front desk of the hotel the singer was staying in.

The hotel staff made his first call at 17:00 local time, requesting them to respond to a hotel guest who was "overwhelmed by drugs and alcohol" and was destroying his room.

A few minutes later, another call was made by the front desk manager, who said:

"I don't know if the guest's life is in danger. But he has a room with a balcony and we're a little afraid that he might do something life-threatening."

As per the news outlet, Payne is believed to have fallen from his balcony at 17:07 local time. The 31-year-old's room was located on the third floor, with his balcony being about 14 meters (45 feet) above the hotel's interior courtyard.

As the Argentinian Police arrived at the hotel minutes later, they were informed by the hotel staff about hearing a loud sound from the courtyard, from where Payne's body was discovered.

The Emergency Services pronounced the singer dead at the scene, adding that there had been "no possibility of resuscitation."

Last Tuesday, October 22, a petition was started on Change.org to create a permanent memorial for Liam Payne in his hometown, Wolverhampton, to ensure that he was "remembered for generations to come." It has received over 3,400 signatures at the moment.
