Playboi Carti’s long-awaited song All Red from his upcoming album I AM MUSIC finally dropped on September 13. But some fans have claimed Carti’s voice bears an uncanny resemblance with Future in the nearly two-and-a-half-minute-long track.
Several people mentioned Future’s influence on the track was glaringly noticeable and jokingly said he must get paid for it. Some even asserted it was the Mask Off hitmaker’s voice instead of Carti that they heard in the audio.
One X user seemingly mocked All Red as a "low budget Future" song.
Other people reacted similarly to the song, with some talking about Future's influence on other rappers.
"Is Future a feature or is that Carti sounding very similar", wondered another.
"Playboi Carti was definitely inspired by Future on “ALL RED” crazy how much influence Future has on all these rappers", wrote one.
One X user played Carti's All Red and Hotboii's 2021 Future collab Nobody Special in a side-by-side comparison to show viewers how both rappers sound similar.
"Dude I deada** thought future was rapping the whole time and was wondering when Carti was gonna come in lol", commented another.
"Playboi Carti sounds like Future in this song "RED." All these artists are just morphing into each other with that autotune,"" wrote another X user.
Playboi Carti first introduced All Red at Summer Smash Chicago
Although the official version of the Georgia rapper's All Red was released on Friday, anticipations around the track began in April when he first teased the song. Later in June, during the rapper's show at the 2024 Summer Smash Festival in Chicago, he performed the track in front of a live audience.
Following the song’s official release, fans mentioned the 29-year-old’s rendition in a significantly lower pitch, leading to the Future comparison. However, Carti has previously pulled experiments with his vocals. While featuring on Travis Scott’s iconic 2023 hit FE!N, Carti switched between a lower baritone and his sharp, airy notes.
Carti tried a similar lower note on Ty Dolla $ign and Ye’s Vultures 1 track CARNIVAL, where he was featured alongside Rich Kid.
In a March 2022 conversation with XXLMag, Playboi Carti spoke about his third studio album, I Am Music.
"I was about to name my album Music because that’s where I’m at, you know what I’m saying? Music...Music because that’s all it is at this point," he said.
When he was asked about his thoughts on fans calling his vocals "baby voice," the rapper said:
"I don’t know. I don’t judge. I can’t get mad at my fans for saying baby voice. That’s how it’s."
However, several fellow artists took after Carti's unique high-pitched voice, which has been dubbed "baby voice" in recent years.
