More on the Hot Boys reunion
Lil Wayne announced the news on X on September 3, 2024. Earlier this year, in May, Juvenile, a member of the band, disclosed plans for a reunion on Instagram Live. He claimed that he, Lil Wayne, B.G., and Young Turk were all working on a new album together, and were to take to the stage at the Essence Fest. He said,
“Hot Boys is back together, man. What you talkin’ about put the Hot Boys back together? Show y’all ain’t keeping up with sh–. Turk gonna be with me tonight, I’m gonna be with B.G. next week. Have some f—in’ patience.”
However, Wayne decided against performing with his former bandmates and instead delivered his performance after Birdman, Mannie Fresh, Juvenile, and B.G. In episode 77 of Not Just Football, Wayne even claimed to not know anything about a reunion, and said that he hadn't recorded anything for any such project.
Hot Boys banded together in 1997 and debuted their studio LP Get It How U Live! They're most notable for their album, Guerilla Warfare. However, come 2001, the group parted ways. Everyone apart from Lil Wayne parted ways with their label, Cash Money, while Wayne stayed back. They cited financial disagreements as their reason.
Lil Wayne has since become the most renowned out of the lot of them, having produced massive hit albums like Tha Block Is Hot in 1999 and Lights Out in 2000.
