Canadian rapper Drake was recently spotted with his son Adonis sitting courtside at a Toronto Raptors game. As per the photo shared by The Shade Room on Instagram on January 14, they looked seemingly happy.

This wasn’t the first time they were spotted together. As per Cosmopolitan’s May 2, 2020, report, the rapper posted pictures with his son in March 2020 with a caption that read:

“I love and miss my beautiful family and friends and I can’t wait for the joyful day when we are all able to reunite.”

Following the new pictures doing the rounds online, fans opined that the God's Plan rapper was displaying a more grounded and personal side of him. Netizens speculated that this maybe indicating a return to a more “old-school” character that was more overtly loving and family-oriented.

Fans praised Drake for spending time with his son. One even said that he was donning a look similar to his 2011’s Take Care album.

Others also said similar things. One said that he was rocking the same haircut like his 2011 album. Another one claimed that they love the rapper.

Some fans asked that others shouldn't find anything negative about this. One wrote that a father spending time with his son is really pure.

Drake was spotted with Adonis after many years

As per the same Cosmopolitan report, Drake later talked about why he decided to share his son's photos two years after his birth. During an interview with Lil Wayne on Young Money Radio with Lil Wayne on May 8, 2020, he revealed:

“I posted those pictures, it was great for me. It was great to just share that with the world... I want to be able to go places with my son and share memories with my son...”

He added:

“I don’t want to feel like just because of a life choice I made to be, you know, a ‘celebrity’ that I got to make everybody live under this blanket. I just wanted to free myself of that...”

The rapper then went on to say that he has observed Lil Wayne as a "functioning rap father for years" and that he was impressed by the way he managed to juggle career and family.

He shared:

"[You're] an incredible father and that gave me a lot of confidence too… Just how you always just made sh*t function and work.. That was really inspiring for me just to know that I can still keep pushing forward as a musician and be there for my son..."

Adonis was born in October 2017. However, the One Dance rapper did not publicly announce the birth of his son until the following spring, when Pusha T attacked the rapper in his diss song, The Story of Adidon.

The song disclosed that Drake's child's mother was named Sophie. Drake then used his 2018 double album Scorpion to talk about his son, rapping:

“The kid is mine, and I wasn't hidin' my kid from the world / I was hidin' the world from my kid…”

Furthermore, as per People Magazine’s October 11, 2024 report, in 2018, Drake also discussed his connection with Sophie and the circumstances surrounding Adonis' birth on HBO's The Shop.

Additionally, according to the same article, Drake and Adonis are both basketball fans and have been seen sitting courtside at other NBA games over the years. Drake has been seen taking Adonis to Toronto Raptors games because he is an outspoken supporter of the team.
