Big Sean's new single On Up came out on August 2, 2024, and the music video is getting a positive response from the public. It features the rapper alongside his family members, including his partner Jhene Aiko, and his father. He even dedicated a few lines to his son,

"Ayy, I wanna dedicate this one to my son, Noah Hasani. Daddy love you, boy, yeah."

The song addresses Big Sean's life outside the music industry and tries to convey his emotions through lyrics. The single came out almost a week after Sean released another track, Yes. Both the songs are supposed to be a part of his upcoming album, Better Me Than You.

Meanwhile, Sean's fans were also satisfied with the new project and they took to the comments section of a post shared by @gothamhiphop on X to share their opinions.

One user praised the fact that families were playing an important role in many musical projects released this year, referring to Kendrick Lamar's diss track, Not Like Us, where the rapper's children were featured alongside his partner Whitney Alford. The comment reads:

"Loving the family visuals we've been getting this year."

Similar reactions continued with the public giving positive feedback to the single.

"Thank you for sharing. I don't have kids but even I felt this, " a user wrote.
"Love this song," another user wrote.
"Such a wholesome music vid," a third user wrote.

A few users were not fully satisfied with the track.

"Beautiful but song is mid at best," a reaction reads.
"This n----- rap like he lazy," another reaction reads.

Many appreciated the uniqueness of the song, with one criticizing those who were disrespecting Big Sean.

"This is beautiful… yea we gotta start slapping the sh*t out of people that disrespect Sean," a reaction stated.
"Love the fatherhood genre of rap," another reaction stated.
"Reminds me of 2Pac circa 1993," a third reaction stated.

Big Sean's upcoming album is to arrive this month

Big Sean's next album, Better Me Than You, will come out on August 9, 2024. The new project is arriving after a gap of almost four years and Sean's last album was Detroit 2, which was released back in 2020.

Sean announced the album on July 19, 2024, through Instagram with a video and wrote,

"Better Me Than You Album in Aug Pre save + Vinyl (link in bio). Its Been a journey I can't wait to share with you all."

The upcoming album is also in the headlines after a lineup of 14 tracks was reportedly leaked by a person with the username Bigseandon811 and it was said to be a part of Big Sean's new project. The anonymous person also wrote,

"Since he wanna disrespect Ye so much, here's the album. F*ck him and his whole team."

The leak happened a day before Sean announced Better Me Than You and the soundtrack included songs such as Nintendo Switch Superstar. Variety stated that certain portions of the tracks were empty and it was titled Feelings & Random Thots.

Sean later responded via Instagram, teasing a collaboration with The Alchemist. He added a video to the post, and the caption reads,

"I'm a just start droppin this new music before they leak it all. Big Sean x The Alchemist soon."

Apart from this album, the 36-year-old was last seen in the comedy film, House Party, which was released back in 2023.
