Machine Gun Kelly is celebrating an important milestone—his first year of being sober after his stint in rehab last year. He has now thanked Megan Fox for helping him in his sobriety journey.
The 34-year-old rapper is happy staying away from alcohol as he said during an appearance on the August 5 episode of the Dumb Blonde podcast with Bunnie XO. Talking about his sobriety, MGK gushed over his on-again, off-again partner, Megan Fox, saying:
"[She] has for sure been extremely helpful in dealing with the kind of psychological withdrawals that come with [getting off drugs]."
Elsewhere in the podcast, the Lonely Road artist also mentioned how meeting Fox, who is now his fiance, has helped him get off the drugs and start his sobriety journey. He mentioned that the actress has "struck a bullseye," adding:
"When I felt that sense light up, everything else went away and I learned what it was to accept living."
Machine Gun Kelly noted that earlier, he was confused about the reason he was "here for," but has now found the purpose to everything. He also said that the Covid pandemic helped him get sober because "none of the dealers would leave their house."

Machine Gun Kelly recalled his years of substance abuse
Early in his conversation with Bonnie XO in the podcast, Machine Gun Kelly recalled his substance abuse, which he said started early in his childhood. He mentioned that the first thing he started using was ecstasy and he was only 11 at the time, but that he didn't go "the f**k off" way when it comes to using drugs until he reached his 20s.
Talking about his substance abuse, MGK said:
"It started with week and alcohol and then I really loved snorting Vyvanse."
He mentioned that he got his work ethic from using those drugs and at one point, he would be writing six songs in just two hours. MGK also said that he used to do cocaine, saying:
"Cocaine was the s**t to me."
According to the rapper, he is "so socially awkward," but using cocaine before he goes somewhere where he needs to meet a lot of people helped. He added:
"Everyone loves me, dude. [It gave me] this false sense of superhuman syndrome."
That said, Machine Gun Kelly said that he decided to leave all of it behind and go completely sober. He noted that he went to rehab for the first time after his European tour in 2023.
In the end, rehab worked out well for the Burning Memories artist, as he mentioned that it gave him "so many ways to operate the body" and find where his anger is coming from and how to deal with it. He added:
"I ended up falling into an awareness of what my condition is and have made peace with it. It's a constant tightrope walk."
Machine Gun Kelly also said that going sober allowed him to be "clear" when he's looking at the person he loves and that he can now have conversations from a "place of being centered."
He also gave a shoutout to everyone who had his back and those who didn't quit and continued supporting him before he reached this point in his sobriety.
