Maren Morris is back on the dating pool "for the first time" since getting divorced from Ryan Hurd on October 2023, as she said during the Wednesday, September 25, episode of Armchair Expert. The singer told hosts Dax Shepard and Monica Padman about dating months after her divorce was finalized in January 2024:
"I'm dating again—dating for the first time, truly."
Shepard inquired if the singer was on Raya. Morris confirmed that she was indeed on the dating app, to which the host replied if they could look through her profile. The Parenthood star also asked the singer if she's seen other celebrities on the app, and she replied:
"Yeah, a few times. It's kind of shocked me. And it makes me feel better too because there's such vulnerability of being like, 'Here's the buffet of options today that I'm a part of.' It made me feel better knowing that this person was on there too."
Raya is an exclusive dating app that celebrities prefer using because of its vetting process, and screenshots of profiles aren't allowed. Celebs like Channing Tatum, Cara Delevingne, Harry Styles, John Mayer, and Ruby Rose have reportedly used the dating app.
Maren Morris talks about dating and how it's "tough" when there are kids involved
Elsewhere in her appearance on the Armchair Expert podcast, Maren Morris talked about the intricacies of going back into the dating scene, and having a kid doesn't make it any easier. She told the podcast host:
"It's hard to meet people in this industry. And in the element of kids and it's tough."
She expressed the same during her appearance in Chicks in the Office podcast on September 6, saying that dating in her 30s is "wild." The Middle singer also shared her experience using Raya and how she got lucky that there were some good moments from it and "nothing crazy traumatizing."
Positive experience on the dating app aside, Maren Morris admitted that dating is "exhausting." She explained:
"I hate first dates. I'll usually just, like grab a drink with somebody because I don't want to be stuck for two hours or three hours. [I] always have an out, whether it's fake or not."
The celebrity singer also admitted that she learned more about herself throughout her "interesting" dating app journey. She thinks that using the dating app is like "a job interview" and that she "feels better" during times that an acquaintance pops up on Raya. She said that she'd seen some friends there.
The singer, who admitted that her dating life is "nothing serious", said that it's still "fun to have a crush." While she didn't mention any current crushes during the interview, Maren Morris recently sparked dating rumors with Netflix reality star Justin Assada after he uploaded a picture of the singer drinking a cocktail in his Instagram Story earlier this month.
