Tyrese Gibson is currently trending on social media after he expressed his frustration towards ex-wife Samantha Lee and her legal team in an Instagram Live video. Gibson alleged in the clip that Lee was trying to get more money from him. The Ride Along 2 star was married to Lee from 2017 to 2020 and also welcomed a daughter.
Gibson said in the video that Lee's attorneys sent him a letter, requesting all the tax returns and bank statements so that he has to pay child support of $40,000 per month. He added:
"They have been looking at all of my movies and all of the concerts and shows that I've been doing and they over there like blood s*cking lawyers, rubbing their hands. And Samantha's doing the same thing."
Tyrese Gibson also mocked their apparent interest in his success, stating that they were trying to find a way to make him pay $600,000 to the law firm as legal fees. He said that there was a "dirty game" going on in terms of his divorce proceedings with Samantha Lee and continued:
"Well, y'all won't keep waiting. Y'all pray for me because I am hearing that the appeals court around my case – my divorce case is being appealed. And they are going to give me the outcome of my appeal August 25."
While Tyrese Gibson's video began trending on different platforms, netizens took to the comments section of The Shade Room's Instagram post to share their reactions. One of them was spotted supporting the actor as he wrote:
"Marriage be leaving rich men defeated."
Many users criticized Samantha Lee for her actions, with a person writing that anyone would be "mad" if the opposite site continued demanding more. On the other hand, a section of the public addressed their opinion about marriage, requesting others to be careful and proceed.
Tyrese Gibson spoke up about his divorce in a recent interview
The American Dad! star addressed the problems that he has been facing for some time while he went for an interview on The Breakfast Club on August 20, 2024. He said during the conversation:
"When divorces happen, women aren't the only ones devastated. When a miscarriage happens, women are not the only ones that you should be checking on. When you can't put food on the table because your career goes up and then it goes down, stop skipping over the man and just checking on the woman."
Tyrese Gibson was also questioned on how he managed to recover after his mother Priscilla Murray Gibson's death in 2022. He said that he still feels the pain and became emotional by saying "Black men cry." He mentioned that there is nothing in this world that can take his mother's place and added:
"I could never feel the void of what it's like to wake up and get married and want to be in something for the rest of your life, and it goes away."
Talking about his upcoming projects, Gibson will next appear as Mercer in the drama film, 1992, which is arriving on the big screen on August 30, 2024. Furthermore, he would play an important role in the action thriller film, Hard Matter. The release date of the project remains unknown for now.
