Taylor Swift fans have noticed that her 2006 eponymous debut album and her 2017 album Reputation were seemingly removed from her page on Spotify. The albums were not removed from the streaming service altogether as they can still be found and played through searches, but they don't seem to appear on Swift's Spotify page anymore.
When Swifties learned of this, they began to speculate about the situation. Some fans took to social media to share their thoughts about the mysterious disappearance of the two albums that Swift has yet to re-record and release as "Taylor's Version." A fan on X thought that there could be a big announcement at the Grammys, which are scheduled for Sunday, February 2, 2025.
"Maybe an announcement at the next Grammys," an X user commented.
As news about the missing debut album and Reputation circulated online, fans shared some of their theories. Most believed that Reputation Taylor's Version would soon be released.
"Oh I checked it and it's true oh my oh my, could this mean we well get Rep and Debut TV sooner than we think I'm excited ahhh," a user on X wrote.
"I have debut, but not reputation. I think reputation may be next! But maybe lover deluxe first since there's all over this lover merch," another fan on X commented.
"She is gonna drop a vault track as a single to promote the album mark my works especially without how the industry and x peasants are treating her it's perfect timing," another X user said.
Some Taylor Swift fans are keeping their theories and expectations modest by speculating that it could only be a glitch.
"I've been clowning for RepTV since last year and even assume TTPD is teased for RepRV and all I got is nothing. I won't expect too much this time but hopefully RepTV is near," an X user wrote.
"It looks like there might be a glitch or an update issue with Taylor Swift's discography on Spotify. 'Reputation' is not visible on her artist page, but fans can still enjoy the album by searching for it directly," another X user commented.
Taylor Swift once said that she's "collecting infinity stones" with her re-recordings, as fans theorize she could be releasing another one soon
Taylor Swift has already released the re-recorded version of four of her first albums following the dispute over the ownership of her discography. She released the Taylor's Version of Fearless and Red in 2021 and Speak Now and 1989 in 2023.
Talking about her growing collection of re-recordings, the multi-Grammy-winning pop star once said to Time Magazine on December 6, 2023, when she was named TIME Person of the Year:
"I'm collecting horcruxes. I'm collecting infinity stones. Gandalf's voice is in my head every time I put out a new one. For me, it is a movie now."
With the four re-recordings done, there are two left: her debut, Taylor Swift, and Reputation. Fans believe that Reputation (Taylor's Version) will be coming soon, especially with the Grammy Awards on February 2, considering that she announced The Tortured Poets Department in last year's ceremony.
At the time of writing, the Look What You Made Me Do hitmaker's debut album seemed back on her Spotify page but Reputation appeared to still be missing.
