The news comes almost a day after Drake withdrew his other lawsuit against UMG, where he alleged that the record label reportedly used different methods to inflate the streaming records of Kendrick Lamar's diss track Not Like Us on Spotify, as per Variety. As per Billboard, the rapper has so far not given any explanation for the withdrawal.

As per a report by TMZ, the rapper claimed in the latest legal documents that the company allegedly promoted Not Like Us despite knowing that the song's lyrics and music video referred to him as a p*deophile.

Drake's new lawsuit and the allegations explained in brief

The Toronto native claimed in the latest lawsuit that UMG reportedly did everything to help Not Like Us reach on top of the charts and they additionally contributed to ensure that Lamar gets to become the headliner for the Super Bowl halftime show this year and that he can perform Not Like Us at the event, as per The Sun.

According to the outlet, the lawsuit alleged that the cover art for Lamar's single had Drake's photo with specific marks featuring him at his Toronto-based residence. The marks reportedly represented the presence of registered s*x offenders.

As mentioned, the new lawsuit was filed after Drake withdrew the other lawsuit that was originally filed in November last year.

Variety was able to obtain the new filing which stated that Spotify had no problems with the withdrawal. Furthermore, the filing claimed that the case was withdrawn to show cause seeking pre-action disclosure and preservation of different documents and communications from Spotify and UMG.
