“I never thought that he and I would get back together. I just just couldn’t give up on idea that there was something amazing out there for me, even when it got really bad — and it did at times. I always believed deep, deep down to not give up completely. It wasn’t until I got to the point where I was really OK on my own and not having to be in a relationship when I feel like universe kind of opened up and said, ‘Well here you go,’” she said.
She described her dynamic with Ben as "crazy, strange, magical, [and] surrealistic" at that time.

A quick timeline of Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck's relationship through the years
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez first crossed paths at the premiere of the film Armageddon in 1998. Their romance began on the sets of Gigli and the two got engaged in 2002.
However, the wedding never happened as the two icons broke up just four days before the wedding date. According to Jennifer Lopez, Ben's aversion to intense media scrutiny of their relationship became their nemesis.
After seventeen long years, the two finally got back together during the pandemic in 2021 and got engaged again in 2022, i.e., exactly two decades after their first engagement.
This time, a private wedding followed it at a wedding chapel in Las Vegas on July 17, 2022. A month later, the two had a grand wedding ceremony at Ben Affleck's house in Georgia.
“We did it. Love is beautiful. Love is kind. And it turns out love is patient….Last night, we flew to Vegas, stood in line for a license with four other couples, all making the same journey to the wedding capital of the world,” wrote JLo in her newsletter after the wedding,
According to reports, Jennifer Lopez submitted the divorce papers on the day of the couple's second wedding ceremony. "Irreconcilable differences" was the major reason that caused them to separate for the second time. Jennifer also filed for Ben Affleck's surname to be removed from her last name.
