American rapper Fivio Foreign recently garnered much flak for his comments on fellow rapper Ice Spice. In a controversial post on X, he wrote, "B*tches hate Spice cuz ni*gas love spice.” Once this post went viral, netizens took to different social media platforms to criticize Foreign.
One netizen retorted that just because men love the Gangsta Boo singer, doesn’t mean women would hate her for that. By that logic, women would also hate Beyonce just because men love her. Making this point, an Instagram user wrote:
Others took to X to make the same argument.
“I don’t think any woman with sense that saw the flaws in ice’s character as “guys love her so I hate her," one X user wrote.
“So nicki minaj hates ice spice cuz y’all love her. that doesn’t make sense boo”, commented another one.
The critics of Ice Spice argued that the reason they dislike the Grammy-nominated star is because they don't like her music or believe that she doesn't treat people well.
Interestingly, Ice Spice has now reposted Fivio Foreign's above-mentioned post.
Cleotrapa accused Ice Spice of being a "fake friend"
Ice Spice is currently facing much criticism after her former friend and tour companion Cleotrapa called her out for allegedly mistreating her on the Y2K! Tour. Cleotrapa attacked the Barbie World singer in several TikTok videos on Monday, September 2.
She claimed that Spice only gave her a day to perform as the opening act on the US leg of Y2K! Tour. During the tour, Cleotrapa alleged that she was not given any kind of support, either logistical or monetary.
The New York rapper elaborated that she received no help from Ice Spice's team for carrying her luggage from the show venue to the hotel. Additionally, she was expected to pay for her own lodging at a five-star hotel, despite being told that her expenses could be covered. The budding rapper revealed that at one point she was denied a chicken salad because she was "not a part of the budget".
The Bikini Bottom hitmaker lost almost 500,000 Instagram followers after Cleotrapa's TikTok posts.
Additionally, Ice Spice's apparent relationship with British rapper Central Cee, who was accused of cheating by his ex-girlfriend, further intensified people's dislike for her.
Ice Spice responds to Cleotrapa
On September 3, in a discussion on X Space, the Bronx-based rapper addressed Cleotrapa's accusations and shared her side of the story. The 24-year-old artist explained that she asked Cleotrapa to join her last minute on the tour because an extra tour bus was added to her entourage, which meant that there was extra space for some people.
The Billboard Women in Music winner shared that once she found out about this extra space, she reached out to Cleotrapa to join her tour. She then called out her former friend for not talking about the fun they had on the tour such as going to a theme park together and enjoying dinner at an Italian restaurant and asked:
"B*tch, we was having fun, so for you to try to sit here and complain about a chicken salad? You never came to me talking about a chicken salad, what are you really talking about right now?"
Following Cleotrapa's accusations, James Rosemond Jr., Ice Spice's manager, directed a series of now-deleted posts and argued that the issue resulted because Cleotrapa's manager did not prepare her for the logistics of the tour.
He wrote:
"If you are not prepared for an opportunity and your team isn't properly advancing then its on them. Not us for offering the opportunity."
Additionally, on September 4, American media personality and presenter Joe Budden defended Spice on his podcast, stating that the charges made by Cleotrapa were a result of miscommunication, as she might have assumed that all her expenses would be taken care of.
He appreciated the headliner for inviting her friend as an opening act and explained that as a new artist, Spice would have very little logistical control over things like security, lodging, and catering.
It will be interesting to see how the drama plays out in the coming days.
