Halle Bailey’s former partner, DDG, recently responded to the netizens who poured in negative comments on the Little Mermaid actress after she publicly criticised the rapper for bringing their son in a Kai Cenat livestream. Siding with Halle, DDG went live on Instagram on November 7, 2024, and conveyed how he does not “like when people hate on Halle".
Admitting how he should have been more cautious about the situation as Bailey was unaware of the kid appearing in the Kai Cenat livestream. DDG said:
“One thing I don’t like what people do, I don’t like when people hate on Halle. I don’t care if people think she is wrong or not, or if I think she is wrong or right. So when situations like this happen, I try to handle it with as much grace as possible because Halo needs her, I need her, we need each other to create a childhood that’s safe and fun and memorable for him.”
As soon as the video of DDG defending Halle made way to social media, the rapper received a lot of appreciation from the masses for standing up for his ex. The video of the same was also uploaded by an Instagram account, @TheNeighbourhoodTalk, where one user commented and said:
“Men please take notes. No matter what y'all going through protect the women in your life!!!”
Others also poured in their praises for the rapper, as several comments read:
On the other hand, many also pointed out how DDG has never said anything negative about Halle, even though the two broke up a while back.
“I am his mother and protector and saddened”- Halle Bailey’s tweet explored as the actress criticised DDG for baby's appearance in livestream
As Halo, the son of DDG and Halle Bailey made an appearance on Mafiathon hosted by Kai Cenat on November 6, 2024, the actress took to X, to slam the rapper for the same. Halle said:
“I wasn’t told or notified and i am extremely upset to have my baby in front of millions of people. I am his mother and protector and saddened that i wasn’t notified especially when i am out of town.”
However, just after Halle uploaded the post, she started receiving a lot of negative and hate comments from the masses who stated that Bailey was overreacting. Following this, Halle again hopped on social media, and clarified:
“I know that Halo is always safe with his dad. i just don’t like finding out with the rest of the world what my baby is doing. thank u kai for the gifts for Halo.”
Furthermore, on Instagram Live, DDG also called his son “the biggest blessing” of his life and stated how he "wouldn’t have him if it wasn’t for Halle,” for which he says he has “got unconditional love and respect for her.” He also said:
“It’s hard for us. So, when lil’ stuff like this happen, it’s really nothing. People go through this type of stuff all the time. I just don’t appreciate when people try to put me against her or me versus her and all of this, ‘She’s wrong and he’s right, blah blah blah.’ Y’all could hate on me for as long as y’all want, but leave Halle alone, man.”
DDG AKA Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr, born in 1997, started dating Halle Bailey in 2021. The couple welcomed their first child together, a son, in December 2023. However, a few months after the son was born, the couple announced their break up and said that they would still continue to raise their son together.
On the other hand, while the netizens have been super appreciative of DDG’s gesture towards Halle, the actress has not yet addressed the statement by the rapper.
