Billboard recently released the list of the 100 Greatest Rap Albums of All Time featuring the best projects that have been released over the years. However, the list also attracted a lot of criticism since it featured Lauryn Hill's The Miseducation in the third spot among the top 10.

The first spot on Billboard's list was taken by the debut album of Nas, Illmatic. The rest of the positions included other artists such as Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, The Notorious, B.I.G., and many others.

While the list went viral on different platforms, people pointed out the fact that The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill was not a rap album. Netizens specifically took to the comments section of The Art of Dialogue's post on X where they revealed the top 10 albums. One of the reactions directly targeted the list and it reads:

"Great list. But miseducation isnt a rap album."

People also stated that they would like to replace Hill's album with another and another user criticized its inclusion to Billboard's list.

"You can make an argument for all albums but 3, 8, and 10 being top 10. Do not get me wrong those 3 were nice albums but top 10 all time no", a user wrote.
"Miseducation is literally R&B…..Lil Kim's Hardcore should deff be up there", a second user wrote.
"Lauryn Hill aint a rap album", a third user wrote.

Others shared their opinion on which album was the best for them.

"All Eyez On Me is no. 1 period", a reaction stated.
"Hell nah! And 400 Degreez not being in the top 10 is blasphemy", another reaction stated.
"Dope list. I think The Purple tape should've made the cut tho", a reaction reads.

Nas shares his reaction after Illmatic reaches the first position on Billboard's list

Nas, also known as Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones, has impressed the public with multiple successful albums. His debut project helped establish his music career. Billboard recently added this album to their top 10 albums, and Nas responded with an Instagram post on July 12, 2024, featuring a screenshot from the news article mentioning his album.

The caption stated:

"Thank you to @billboard! N the people !!! We here #1 illmatic."

Nas has previously addressed the album's success on various occasions. He appeared for an interview with Vanity Fair last year and he was questioned if he still listens to Illmatic. He replied by saying:

"I don't listen to it, but if somebody's playing it or it does come up, I do think about what life is like and it's a whole different day today. And it's like the nineties was a whole different animal and yeah, it takes me back."

He additionally stated that he wanted everyone to hear the album and get respect for the same. Notably, Illmatic was released in 1994 and it grabbed the 12th spot on the US Billboard 200.
