Many fans on social media praised Michigan rapper DDG (born Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr.) after he seemingly gifted his Los Angeles mansion, worth $3 million, to his mother. The 27-year-old recorded the moment he broke the news to her, explaining his plans to move to a new house.
In a video posted on social media, the rapper said:
"I don't know if y'all know, but I bought a new place. I'm finna move... You [Mom] can have it. Well, you gotta wait til I leave."
Although his mother was initially confused, she expressed her support for her son, and the two shared an embrace.
Fans on X were divided in their response to the rapper's move. While some lavished praise on DDJ, others criticized him for not giving up his old mansion. One netizen on X commented:
"Momma deserves the new one tho."
Some popular comments on X are as follows:
"N***s in the comments hating. The old mansion is the new mansion for her because she didn't have one, to begin with. He also pays all of her bills she wants for nothing," argued another.
"Everybody in these comments saying he should’ve given her his new one wtf do you guys have a mansion ?? She can just decorate it to her liking and bam it’s new," wrote another user on X.
One fan raved about the rapper, writing:
""Y’all sick for telling him to give her the new one.. like why?! You didn’t have a mansion before to call your own, now you do.. do as you please momma."
"DDG really pulled the ultimate plot twist—giving his mom his old mansion and she thought it was the new one," commented another.
"But people keep talking about his son Birthday gift DDG been giving crazy gifts for years y’all need to get off his d*ck," opined another.
Several netizens shared their take on the rapper's gift to his mother.
"I bet being rich and having Christmas is awkward. Feels like everybody just expects from you and I ain’t down with that shit," a user wrote.
"I love his mom 💕 🥰she been right there next to him moved from her hometown to make sure they ain’t scam him 😝 brought a few of his ppls up on the regular and be being his videographer sometimes 🤪💪🏾 she so deserves it," another chimed in.

DDG gifted his one-year-old son a Ferrari on his birthday
On December 22, 2024, rapper DDG and his partner Halle Bailey celebrated their son Halo's first birthday. The couple posted photos of the birthday celebration on social media. However, what caught the attention of netizens was that they had purchased a brand-new Ferrari for their one-year-old.
Halo was born in December of the previous year, and the couple went public with their kid earlier in 2024. Since then, both DDG and Halle Bailey have had ups and downs in their relationship, ultimately resulting in their separation in October. However, a month later, DDG declared that he hadn't ended his relationship with Bailey.
The video of the two gifting a Ferrari to their son went viral just days after DDG declared that he needed $40,000 to organize his son's birthday. The rapper implored fans to avoid skipping ads while watching his videos. Therefore, the gesture of gifting a Ferrari to Halo immediately sparked a wave of criticism.
Several other clips of Halo's birthday party were posted online. In one, Halle Bailey became emotional while wishing him Happy Birthday, and in another, Halo appeared surprised to see a life-sized version of Colomelon.
