Kendrick Lamar's summer hit, Not Like Us, which came at the tail end of his rap battle with Drake, has reportedly surpassed Tupac's 1996 diss Hit 'Em Up as the most streamed diss track. Our Generation Music, an Instagram account, posted a screenshot of the number of streams received by both songs on August 11, 2024.

The image showed that while Hit 'Em Up had 6.41 million streams, Not Like Us one-upped the song with 6.47 million, although it is unclear which streaming platform the stats were taken from.

The comparison, which made the rounds on X, was met with mixed responses. One person dubbed Not Like Us "overrated", tweeting:

Others agreed with this take, with many pointing out that Hit 'Em Up came out when streaming was unheard of and therefore the numbers weren't to be taken seriously.

"For you young kids, they didn’t keep track of streams when Tupac was alive. If they did no one would be catching him at all, so lease stop this foolery," one person tweeted.
"They really tricked us into reporting stats on an app that came out in 2015," another person added.
"Not taking away anything from his accomplishment but Times was definitely different back then, it’s not really a way we can track how many times “Hit Em Up” was even streamed before the streaming era," someone else commented.
"We gotta stop trying to compare to songs that came out before the streaming era like no duh these new artist are going to have the biggest streaming numbers and titles compared to older artist cause there was no streaming," another user noted.

However, others were supportive of Kendrick Lamar's accomplishment, dubbing him the worthy successor to Tupac's legacy.

"If anybody gonna pass up Pac in numbers I’m glad it’s Kendrick," one person wrote.
"Best diss track of all time hands downs," another person added.
"2pac smiling down at this fact rn," another netizen said.

Kendrick Lamar's Not Like Us topped the Billboard Hot 100 twice

Not Like Us took the world by storm when it came out on May 4, 2024, as the final diss track Kendrick Lamar aimed at Drake in their high-octane rap battle. The DJ Mustard-produced song was an instant hit, topping the Billboard Hot 100 in its first week.

While the song slid down the list as weeks passed, it climbed to the No. 1 spot again after the music video was released on July 4, 2024. The track is currently at the No. 3 spot on the charts, with over 142 million plays on YouTube. The music video has over 100 million views on the same platform at the time of writing.

Not Like Us also broke several records held by Drake, beating his Girls Like Girls track for the biggest stream for any rap song in one day on Spotify. It also became the fastest rap song to gain 500 million streams on the streaming platform, a record previously held by Drizzy's God's Plan.

Kendrick Lamar performed Not Like Us six times, including an instrumental version, in his show The Pop Out: Ken & Friends on June 19.

Many crowned Kendrick Lamar the winner of the rap feud, which started with his guest verse in Metro Boomin and Future's Like That, released in March 2024 as part of their We Don't Trust You album.

Drake responded with Push Ups and Taylor Made Freestyle on April 19. On April 30, Kendrick Lamar dropped Euphoria. The duo dropped three diss tracks between them on May 3, Lamar's 6:16 in LA, Drake's Family Matters and Lamar's meet the grahams.

Kendrick Lamar's Not Like Us, released on May 4, sealed the victory for the Compton rapper, as the track saw him accuse Drake and his team of being "certified p*dophiles."
