Rapper Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, aka NBA YoungBoy, is reportedly set to secure an early release from prison on July 27, 2025. As per Times Now, the early release stems from a plea agreement related to an alleged federal gun charge in Utah, for which he was sentenced to 23 months in prison.

As a part of the plea deal, NBA Youngboy has also agreed to surrender his firearms, which include a Glock 21.45-caliber pistol and a Masterpiece Arms MPA30T 9mm handgun.

As per HotNewHipHop, YoungBoy's legal troubles escalated in April 2024 when he was arrested at his Utah residence, facing a staggering 63 charges linked to an alleged prescription drug fraud scheme. At the time, the rapper had already spent two years on house arrest awaiting trial for a separate gun charge.

Thereafter, he was again slammed with another gun charge in August 2024. As per Vice, by November 2024, YoungBoy pleaded guilty to 10 counts related to the fraud case while opting for a no-contest plea on 36 others. HotNewHipHop reported that he was also fined $25,000 for the same.

NBA Youngboy’s legal issues explored as the rapper is likely to be released from prison earlier than expected

While NBA Youngboy’s difficulties seem to be coming to an end with an early release, it is worth noting that the rapper’s legal troubles began in 2014, when he was just 15 years old. Back then, he was arrested for robbery and was detained for 6 months. Later, in 2016, the rapper was again arrested for allegedly firing at a group on a South Baton Rouge street.

As per XXL Magazine in May 2017, he was charged with two counts of attempted murder, as a result of which, he spent several months in jail before pleading guilty to a reduced charge of aggravated assault with a firearm. Thereafter, in 2018 and 2019, the rapper was arrested on charges of assault, weapons, kidnapping, and battery assault.

NBA Youngboy was once again arrested in 2019, for allegedly opening fire, and leaving his girlfriend injured, as per WAFB9. For the same, and violating his probation from a previous arrest, he was ordered to spend 90 days in prison. The violation also banned him from hosting concerts or performances for 14 months.

About his most recent arrest, NBA Youngboy was allegedly accused of running a prescription fraud ring. For the same, he was first put on house arrest but was later held in prison as he was charged with multiple crimes.
