During a panel at Revolt World 2024 on September 22, Boosie BadAzz responded to his daughter Poison Ivi's criticism of his homophobic comments about her sexuality. The rapper recently garnered immense backlash after he said that he doesn't allow his openly lesbian daughter's partner to come to his house because he did not want them to "contaminate" his other kids.
“She still can’t bring her situation to our house. My daughter is grown—Because I don’t want it to contaminate her others [siblings]. It’s a generation we’re raising, and I don’t want her to get too contaminated for her other six or seven sisters who look up to her. I want them to bring me grandchildren the right way," he said.
Boosie BadAzz added that he didn't want his other daughters to be exposed to homosexuality. He said neither his grandfather nor father allowed it, and he would follow in their footsteps.
As the clip made the rounds on social media, his daughter Poison Ivi went on Instagram Live on September 27 to call out her father for his remarks. Boosie BadAzz responded to her criticisms on Instagram, posting a series of photos with his daughter with the caption:
“NEVER MEANT TO HURT YOU. DADDY BBY #Iloveu”
Boosie BadAzz also shared another post claiming that the internet would not make him look like a bad father, saying he loved all his kids. He also shared more pictures of him and his daughter, whose real name is Iviona, adding that they were good and “GOD GOT US.”
Boosie BadAzz's daughter called him out for "always speaking" about her sexuality
On September 27, Poison Ivi took to Instagram Live and addressed her father's recent comments about her sexuality during his guest appearance at Yung Miami's Caresha Please! at Revolt World 2024. She said that he was "always speaking" about her sexuality even when she kept quiet.
“He [Boosie] always speaking on my sexuality. The whole world know that. And it been about two years now that I’ll be quiet. I keep quiet on the s**t. I wouldn’t say nothing … I just seen he recently did an interview with [Yung Miami] and he used the word ‘contaminating.’ And putting my siblings in it with that … I love and respect my siblings with everything in me," she said.
She continued that her father called her a "gay b***h" when he found out she was a lesbian while they were on a trip to Jamaica. Ivi said she forgave Boosie for all the hurtful things he told her, adding she was his daughter and would never go against her father.
Ivi added that while Boosie BadAzz was not a bad father, she hated that he would rather talk about serious family issues on the internet than have a conversation with his children. She also accused him of never promoting her talents as a rapper, instead choosing to always speak about her being a lesbian.
“If you broadcasted my music the way you broadcast me being gay, maybe I’ll be further than what I am. But you so worried about me being gay you can’t even see my true talent," she said.
Before his comments at Revolt World 2024, Boosie BadAzz spoke about his daughter's sexuality during a 2023 interview with DJ Vlad. He said that while he and his family loved Ivi, they struggled to accept her.
