Fans are speculating that Lorde is set to drop her fourth studio album soon after she cleared her Instagram feed on August 12, 2024. The singer has reportedly done the same to her Instagram in the past.

Lorde's last studio album, Solar Power, was released in 2021, and she is yet to officially announce details of her next project. In June of this year, fans interpreted some of her Instagram posts as hints toward her upcoming studio album.

After the pop star deleted her Instagram feed, fans on X began speculating that something big is on the horizon. One X user reacted:

Lorde shared cryptic Instagram posts allegedly teasing her fourth album in June 2024

In June 2024, Lorde shared a series of cryptic posts on Instagram, which many fans interpreted as teases for her fourth studio album after 2021's Solar Power. In a June 4 post, the New Zealand singer wrote:

“Use the existing tools wherever possible. If the tools do not exist you are spiritually obligated to create them."

The post included multiple suggestive clues, including a ZapfDingbats spree, three L figures, a copyright symbol, a recycling logo, and the number four in parentheses.

In a follow-up post, Lorde shared many unexplained symbols, including the number 27, a series of Ls, multiple stars, an Egyptian figure, a shark, a rabbit, and what appeared to look like a Tarot card.

In her third post, she shared an image of herself dressed in black, holding a pill in her hand with the word "spit" on it. The series also had a snap of her swimming pool, an ashtray with gold jewelry, and some books. She did not offer any explanation behind her posts. The caption said:

“THE THEMES ARE ALWAYS THE SAME— A RETURN TO INNOCENCE— THE MYSTERIES OF THE BLOOD— AN ITCH FOR THE TRANSCENDENTAL.”

Earlier in December 2023, Lorde shared another suggestive post featuring an image of her listening to something, with the caption "listening to myself." She also teased the release of two new numbers during her headlining show at the Boardmasters Festival in the U.K. in the summer of 2023.
