Nick Cannon mentioned that Mariah Carey has been spending more time with their thirteen-year-old twin sons, Monroe and Moroccan, who have been comforting her during this challenging time. They were married from 2008 to 2016 and have joint custody of their children.
"She's really having a great time with the kids. That is, you know, the most important thing in the world to her, so it's outstanding to see them supporting their mom the way they do." Cannon continued.
Carey posted on social networks that her mother and sister were no more on August 27. She did not give more information about the circumstances that led to the demise, but she condoled them in a statement to the media:
"My heart is broken that I've lost my mother this past weekend. Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day. I feel blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed. I appreciate everyone's love and support and respect for my privacy during this impossible time."
Cannon also spoke about the challenges of raising their now-teenage children, particularly Monroe. He described a humorous yet heartfelt moment where Monroe took after her famous mother, particularly regarding beauty routines.
Sharing a story about finding hair and makeup products scattered across her room, Cannon said:
"My daughter, she's wearing makeup now. She doesn't wear it a lot, luckily, but it scared me. I was like, 'Wow, you're just like your mom.' It's beautiful to see, but scary all at the same time."
Recently, Mariah Carey posted a touching photo on Instagram with Monroe and Moroccan on the Great Wall of China while in Beijing. She was dressed elegantly as usual, in a black dress and butterfly accessories when spending time with her children.
"It really is great! ," Carey captioned the post, although she later joked about her outfit choice for the trip, adding on X (formerly Twitter),
While dealing with personal loss, Carey has returned to her professional commitments. On September 8, the singer posted a video of herself rehearsing for her upcoming shows in China and Brazil. The video titled "Back at work," revealed her determination to move forward despite the tragedy.
