Erica Mena recently apologized to Nicki Minaj in an interview for taking Safaree Samuels' side and turning against the rapper. Minaj dated Samuels between 2000 and 2014, while Mena was married to him from 2019 to 2022 and shares two children with the producer.
In a December 23 episode of the Dumb Blonde podcast, Erica Mena said that she owes Nicki Minaj an apology for her previous hostile behavior towards the rapper. Mena blamed Samuels for making her turn against Minaj and claimed she did not know the truth about the producer when she was dating him. She said:
"I owe her the biggest apology. It’s funny how life comes full circle because the same thing he did to her, he’s doing to me years later."

Mena added that she ignored all the "red flags" in Samuels despite the producer badmouthing Nicki Minaj in front of her. She added that everything Minaj had said about Samuels turned out to be true.
Fans took to Instagram to react to Erica Mena's statements with one hailing Minaj for having the "last laugh." The user wrote:

Erica Mena's apology comes after she made multiple supposedly hostile comments about Nicki Minaj. Many of the comments came while Mena was dating their shared ex, Safaree Samuels.
Erica Mena claims everything Nicki Minaj said about Safaree Samuels turned out to be true
In her interview on the Dumb Blonde podcast, Erica Mena apologized to Nicki Minaj, claiming all that she had said about Safaree Samuels was true. Mena said:
"I owe this woman an apology. Because I sat here and allowed him to talk about her to me. From that came me saying things and defending and vouching for him and speaking on her in a way that was tacky. Because at the end of the day, I didn’t know the truth. Everything she has ever said about him is true."
Mena added that she remembers Samuels “pouring his heart out” and sharing things about what Minaj did to him. She also mentioned her ex showing her videos of Minaj "reacting" to a certain incident. Recalling the times, Mena regretted not asking what Samuels had done to the rapper instead.
Mena also mentioned that she later figured out Safaree Samuels was allegedly going around trying to "ruin" Minaj's career and "take credit" for her hard work.
Mena's statements come after she took several jibes at Nicki Minaj during her relationship with Safaree Samuels. She met Samuels on the sets of VH1's television series, Scared Famous, in 2017. This was three years after the producer's break-up with Minaj in 2014. The couple got married in 2019.
In 2018, Mena once shared images with Cardi B, Jennifer Lopez, Remy Ma, and Lil Kim and captioned it "inspirations." In the comments section of her post, a fan asked her if Nicki Minaj was also an inspiration to her. In a supposed jibe at the rapper, Mena answered, "Who?"
In a 2022 interview with Hot 97, Erica Mena took another supposed dig at Nicki Minaj by calling her music "cartoony." She added that she does not know the words to her songs.
"Honestly I grew up on Lil Kim so heavy, when that came out I was like, 'Ugh, she's biting my girl. "She [Nicki] is [great], I've just never been drawn to it. I just feel like it was always just cartoony and stuff. She's great at what she does, but personally? I mean, you're in the club and you're nice already, but I don't know the words," she said.
However, in June 2024, Mena appeared to support Nicki Minaj publicly on Instagram despite their turbulent history. The rapper shared a video where she spoke about the difficulties of being a mother. In the comments section, Erica Mena offered her support and wrote:

Erica Mena's divorce from Safaree Samuels has been messy after three years of marriage. The two officially divorced each other in 2022. The couple share two children, Safire Majesty, 4, and Legend Brian, 3.
In October 2024, Samuels filed a petition to lower child support payments to Erica Mena. The fiasco led to Samuels sharing alleged video clips of Mena supposedly harassing him in front of their children. Further, Mena took to Instagram to accuse Samuels of being an absent father and claimed she was "heartbroken" due to the allegations in an official statement to TMZ.
