Kenneth Petty, Nicki Minaj's husband since 2019, faced public criticism for using a gay slur during a TikTok live session on August 30, 2024. This occurred while Minaj spoke to her followers about the importance of protecting their loved ones.
She was heard saying:
"Don't you let anybody or anything steal your motherf*cking joy."
Kenneth Petty was also sitting in the background, and he had a smile on his face as he said:
"That's right, especially little f*ggots or f*ck boys."
Netizens were left frustrated with the response and the words Petty used in the video. People took to the comments section of a post shared on the page of Saint, active under the username @spin4saint, on X to react to the clip.
One of them wrote:
"He truly is Nicki Minaj humiliation ritual."
Users were spotted slamming Petty, with another person questioning why Minaj allowed him to say such words in a live video.
"It's giving the popular girl who says she's for the gays but let her boyfriend say slurs while she laughs", a user wrote.
"Are we shocked? He's also a r*pist. I wouldn't put anything past him", a third user wrote.
A few others also targeted Nicki Minaj as they criticized Kenneth Petty.
"Nicki has a lot in common with him", a user stated.
"I hate them so bad they're miserable", another user stated.
"….they've both said it. Several times", a third user stated.
The criticism towards Nicki Minaj also increased at one point.
"She's from the criminal family and married another criminal", a reaction mentioned.
"Stop supporting these straight female artists who pretend to be allies for the gay community", another reaction reads.
Nicki Minaj's fan filed a lawsuit against her a few days ago
A fan of the 41-year-old rapper, identified as Tameer Peak, approached the Los Angeles Superior Court around five days ago to file a lawsuit against her. Peak was seeking $5 million from Minaj for reputational harm, emotional distress, and financial loss.
Peak claimed that Nicki Minaj called him a stalker for pretending to be a crew member working for her. The legal documents stated that Minaj had once allegedly called him to a hotel in 2017 and ended up insulting him in front of around 100,000 viewers.
The lawsuit also named Minaj's husband, Kenneth Petty, stating that the latter "battered" Peak at a Super Bowl event in 2020. The court documents claimed that Minaj once described Petty as "one sandwich short of a picnic."
On the other hand, Nicki Minaj's lawyer, Judd Burstein, denied the claims made in the lawsuit. Speaking to TMZ, Burstein stated that the lawsuit was an attempt to financially exploit her client and that Peak will now have to pay the legal fees considering the step that he has taken against Minaj.
Minaj has not announced any new album until now. Her last project was Pink Friday 2, which came out last year and grabbed the first spot on the US Billboard 200.
