YouTuber Prieto Hunters returns Roddy Ricch’s Grammy amid allegations of threats
The incident began on November 29, 2024, when Prieto Hunters uploaded a video to YouTube showcasing the contents of a storage unit he purchased for $280, according to iHeart.
In the video, Hunters revealed various items from the unit before opening a black Tuni suitcase containing Roddy Ricch's 2019 Grammy award for Best Rap Performance for Racks in the Middle, featuring Mustard.
After discovering the award, Hunters suggested on YouTube that Roddy Ricch’s team could "work something out" if they wanted the Grammy returned.
On December 2, 2024, Prieto Hunters uploaded another video to YouTube, announcing his decision to return the Grammy to Roddy Ricch or his team free of charge.
In the video, shared by @mymixtapez on X, the YouTuber alleged that he had been threatened by Roddy’s team, claiming that the situation was affecting his entire family.
Hunters further clarified that he had not demanded any money for the Grammy’s return, stating that all he wanted was an opportunity to film a video with Roddy. The YouTuber stated:
"Never I think it was gonna turn into a nightmare. Let me tell you guys, yes I got contact by Roddy Ricch and assistant, and no I am not asking for $1 million.
He continued:
All I wanted was a video of me giving it back to him all at least him telling thank you, thats all I want. Guys this has turn into a nightmare for me having this thing, threats to me and my family."
On December 1, 2024, Roddy Ricch addressed the situation on his Instagram account, alleging that the YouTuber had requested monetary compensation in connection with the Grammy Award.
"First he asked me for an AP. Then he asked for $50,000. So it was never about 'Oh we're going to do it on just the strength of trying to get it back to you' and all that type of sh*t. It was more so about a n*gga trying to get some clout off it or a n*gga trying to basically extort me for $50,000," Roddy said.
The YouTuber has denied the allegations of seeking compensation, but Roddy Ricch has yet to respond to the threats claims made by Prieto Hunters.
