Travis Scott was in Paris to watch the Team USA vs Serbia basketball match
On August 8, 2024, Travis Scott was at the Olympics Men’s Basketball semifinals between Team USA and Serbia with fellow rapper Quavo. The two were pictured on the sidelines cheering for their home team, who won the match and will progress to the finals. Scott also tweeted that the game was:
"f***ing wilddddddd."
Following this, he ran into paparazzi who followed him to his hotel. A few hours later, Scott came out to confront the photographer lingering outside his hotel. Another video taken later showed Travis Scott interacting with the paparazzi with the roles reversed.
The rapper pulled out his phone and started filming the photographers, berating them for following him all day. The paparazzi in the video said they were following him as he rarely makes pitstops in Paris. Scott was seemingly displeased with the answer and replied:
"Go to sleep, y'all too grown for this."
In the early hours of August 9, Travis Scott was arrested by French police after an altercation with hotel security at the George V luxury hotel. Local police claimed the rapper was heavily intoxicated and refused to take a breathalyzer test.
According to NBC News, the Paris prosecutor's officer released a statement detailing the arrest.
"I can confirm that on August 9, 2024, police officers were called to the George V hotel and arrested the rapper nicknamed Travis Scott for assaulting a security guard. The security guard had intervened to separate the rapper from his bodyguard. The Paris public prosecutor’s office has referred the case to the 1st district of the judicial police," the statement read.
The rapper, aged 33, is reportedly spending the night in a jail cell. This came just hours after the bodycam footage of his Miami arrest in June 2024 was released online.
