The internet recently reacted to Nicki Minaj scrapping her much-awaited Gag City Reloaded deluxe version of Pink Friday 2 and announcing the release of Pink Friday 3. The 41-year-old rapper released Pink Friday 2 in December 2023, marking her first full-length release in five years.

On Tuesday (August 20), the Starships rapper first announced the release of the deluxe version of Pink Friday 2, revealing that she would be performing a few songs from the album on her PF2 #GagCityReloaded Tour. However, she scrapped the idea, announcing a completely new album, Pink Friday 3, in a long X post on September 15.

"Instead of doing a DELUXE to Pink Friday 2, I’ve decided to do a brand new album. I’ll still incorporate new songs like #Mamita & [The “anxiety” song] for the remainder of the tour tho…and I’ll announce the new date within the next couple weeks. The new music is just too good to be thrown away on a deluxe album," tweeted Nicki Minaj.

She further elaborated on the importance of Pink Friday 2, revealing why it is one of the most special albums in her repertoire.

"PF2 means so much to me. As my 1st album as #PapaBear mama, it’s just very special to me for so many reasons you guys aren’t aware of. I put every song on there in a specific order, etc. So to honor that, I’m going to give it the respect & integrity it deserves as a beautiful body of work & not add anything else to it. 1 or 2 songs is no big deal but 5-7 songs feels a little sloppy right now (In my humble opinion)," added Minaj.

Fans took to X and wrote about their thoughts on the last-minute change by Nicki Minaj. While some slammed the songstress for her whimsicality, others welcomed it. Some popular comments on X are as follows:

"Nobody even wanted Pink Friday 2," opined one netizen.
"let go of the pink stuff and do a new era already," suggested another fan.
"she needs to let pink friday go," wrote another induvidual on X.

Fans also supported the rapper, revealing their excitement and concerns for the upcoming album.

"Please be like the OG Pink Friday," wrote one fan on X.
"we really get Nicki’s next album before CB2," commented another.
"just because cardi dropping soon she has to think fast," theorized one user on X.

One user pointed out the importance of the upcoming album in Nicki Minaj's career, tweeting:

"The way this album and especially its rollout will make or break her legacy."
"EVERYONE IS SEATED," announced another.
